(Big Island) Kona - need help with shopping for produce
We will be flying in to Kona next week and driving about 15 minutes south of Kona. Will make the usual stop at Costco for some of the basics before we head south. Can anyone who knows the island suggest where we might also stop for vegetables and fruit on a Friday afternoon? Would really prefer some farmer's market or stand as opposed to stopping at Safeway. If nothing available we will wait for the Saturday farmer's market, but thought there might be some other options.

There is the Kailua Village Farmers market at Alii Drive and Hualalai Road (wed - sat?). Not really in the same league as the saturday market. Goes until midafternoon (3 or 4pm), can't guarantee that the produce vendors will still be there late in the afternoon.

That is helpful. Mahalo. We would be there well before 3 so it should work fine.

We always stop in at either Costco or Walmart.. Costco does have the produce section which isn't much, but seems to have some local fresh selections..

There is the South Kona fruit stand located south of Kona - before Captain Cook. It is pretty good if not a tad expensive.
