MENUS?
Just wondering if any of you happen to have an extra inflight menu from ALOHA mainland-Hawaii service (First class or Economy).
I'm curious about their food service since I have a background in catering. Thks.

I recently took a flight from Honolulu to Las Vegas. In coach class they were serving Filet Mignon with assorted vegetables or Cheese Ravioli. It was accomanied by mixed greens with a Mango Vinaigrette and some fruit as dessert. On the flight SNA-HNL they served either Miso-chicken with vegetables or a lasagna. All accompanied by a caesar salad and finished with a chocolate cake. In coach they also serve one complimentary Mai-Tai per passenger. Prior to landing one gets fresh baked chocolate chip cookies with milk. The meals were served on porcelain and I think the service was better than the one that I usually experience on these routes with United. They definitely come around more often to offer drinks. There was also a snack (nuts)/drink service on the flights SNA-LAS and LAS-SNA.
Now to the First classe service. Since I didn't fly first, I only got a glimpse of what they were doing, but was able to get a menu on the return flight (SNA-HNL). There was apparently also a quick breakfast service on the flight LAS-SNA, but I don't know what they served there.
The menu for the Transpac flight was created by Alan Wong (it says Westcoast to Hawaii on it, so I assume it is served on all flights (OAK-HNL, OAK-KOA, OAK-OGG and SNA-HNL).
It features a Fruit Medley, then chilled shrimp with avocado, papaya and cherry tomatoes with papaya seed dressing.
After that it features either grilled salmon with ponzu and shiitake mushrooms, snow peas on capellini noodles or braised shortribs with taro.
As I said before, I can unfortunately not give any ratings on the quality of food offered. The wine selection was Mumm Cuvee Napa Brut Prestige, Kunde Estate Chardonnay, Rutherford Hill Merlot Napa Valley, Sebastiani Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon and Brancott Vineyards Marlborough Reserve Pinot Noir (from New Zealand).
The catering was (as far as I could see) provided by Gate Gourmet in HNL and LSG in SNA. I don't know the service provider in LAS.

Thanks alohaplus for such a nice report!
The foods served on Aloha seem to be excellent and definitely better than United or perhaps any other competitors.
I want to ask you a couple questions --
1. Does Y class get a printed menu?
2. Aloha publicizes that it has a hot towel service for Y class, too. Is it true?
Thank you once again!
Also, welcome to FT! This is a wonderful bulletin board and I hope you will enjoy most of the posts!

Yes I have to agree with your statement, that the foods served are of a better quality than what others serve on this route. I have to add here that I was already pleased with their catering on my first longer range flight with Aloha about 2 years ago from HNL to Midway (then still operated as a charter service and with their ETOPS rated 737-200).
To answer your questions:
No, there's no printed menu in coach.
The towel is an 'Oshibori' (refreshing=cold) towel. This has the advantage, that you can save it and use it at the time you want (not like the hot towels).
I've actually been following posts on this board for quite a long time already, I was just too shy to post myself

Welcome, Alohaplus! Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like you had a great flight. You tempted me to try Aloha for my next Hawaiian trip. It's too bad that they don't use wide-bodied planes.

The seat distance is 33" and they have leather seats (I flew on their 2 newest planes on my trip and they both still had that 'new plane' smell). You definitely know that you'll be flying a quite new airplane that the airline is still very proud of (miles can be charged on to MP, but unfortunately don't count as status miles).
