Christopher Street Day in Berlin - 19th June

http://www.csd-berlin.de/index.php?
Is anyone else going to Christopher Street Day in Berlin this year? I haven't been to CSD before and was looking for some advice about what's good in gay Berlin while there. What's the event like? What's worth attending?

Yup... I will be there.

This is my post from another thread about CSD.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13946131-post5.html

I have gone to several CSD's in Berlin. In fact I fly to Berlin on the 17th June for 5 days. I have had to miss the last couple of years due to work commitments. So I am really glad I am getting to have fun in Berlin again, and they certainly know to have fun.

The website for CSD is http://www.csd-berlin.de (there is an English language option on the website) Also there is a handy online guide and leaflet produced by Sieggessaule magazine called Out In Berlin (http://www.out-in-berlin.de/en/home.html)

For anyone who has not booked accomodation I would really recommend renting a vacation apartment. The website EBAB is run in association with the local Gay Switchboard (http://www.ebab.de). If there are any left you can get an apartment that is stumbling distance from the bars from between 35 - 50 euros a night.

Berlin CSD has a great atmosphere in my opinion. It has both a fun and frivolous side whilst maintaining a campaigning edge. The party down in the Tiergarten is fun. As is the parde before hand. There are lots of different events going on over the week. If we are lucky with the weather then Berlin can be very beautiful at that time of the year. Nothing like a late night drinking standing on Fuggerstr. ;-)

Can't wait.
What parties/clubs/bars and other cultural or gastronomic experiences really depend on your preferences. Berlin has a wide spectrum from very vanilla to not so Let us know what your tastes are.

The different neighborhoods in Berlin have their own unique flavours. Depending on how long in town you are. You should definitely head into Prenzelauerberg and go have a walk round the Kathekollowitzplatz area. Some fabulous places to choose to eat from and I found the best italian ice cream I have had in ages (though get a napkin... i had a very messy mouth afterwards )

Oh and another must do is have a currywurst. You can even combine this with watching the parade. On Wittenbergplatz by the KaDeWe Dept store is "Fritz & Co". This is an Gay 'Imbiss' (fast food stand). If you are a foodie then the KaDeWe Foodhall on the top floor will be your idea of heaven.
