Transfer in MUC on 12/25

I'm flying UA IAD-MUC then transferring to LH MUC-GRZ. I have about a 4 1/2 hour layover. My first time through MUC so I've got a few questions:

If I just transfer (i.e. don't go airside), would I go through security again in MUC? If I buy some duty free liquor at IAD, can I get it all the way through to GRZ carrying it with me? Or would I have to check it in MUC? Are bags picked up and then rechecked there as well? I will have UA check mine all the way to GRZ.

Will the shops at MUC be open on Christmas Day?

Where are the showers located (not the lounge ones)? Are they airside? Anyone know the cost? Think I read there are vending machines with soap and towels.

Thanks a lot.

You obviously stay airside (you will not go landside)

Yes, you enter into the EU from a publically known unsafe country

You will collect your luggage in GRZ, we do not expect our visitors to do exercises by carrying luggage in transfer (even if they come from a publically known unsafe country}

At the airport, yes. Outside the airport, 99% will be closed.

There is a wonderful tool called "the Internet" and Munich airport has a website - amazingly even in English language. Searching for the word "shower" will give wonderful results (Unfortunately not about the price, however, I would expect this to be in an affordable range).

I had to do this once at FRA (duty free liquor bought on board an LH flight coming from an unsafe country ) and they would only accept it if placed in a bag - not just a sealed plastic bag.

Duty free items bought on board an LH flight are something totally different. These are liquids bought on an EU registered aircraft and should be allowed if they are placed in a sealed plastic bag with the invoice shown. However, not every security guy is aware of these rules and not every FA is aware how to pack this properly.

However, liquids bought in a Non EU (incl. Switzerland and Norway) duty free shop or onboard of a third world (sorry, third country) aircraft are simply illegal in hand-luggage when departing from or transfering through the EU.

I know about sealed plastic bags with the invoice shown etc. having carried them a few times ex-UK when transiting through FRA/MUC/ZRH. It was a duty free bottle bought on board an LH flight from NRT and while sitting in a SEN lounge it suddenly occurred to me I should find out that it was ok to take it on a connecting flight to the UK. Transfer desk staff didn't know the answer and sent me to a C-gate security checkpoint, where I was told I had to check it in.

Very strange...

Inflight EZE-FRA I bought several perfums, was given a bottle of port as a present, all was packed in one of those sealed plastic bags. In Fra I had a connection to MUC and walked to the FCT for the layover of 2hrs.
At the security check at the FCT they just quickly glanced at the sealed bag and waved me through...
Sometimes I think, the sec goons do not know what the actual rules are and how they are enforced...
I thought that stupid sealed bag serves only one purpose: to let you and your duty frees through security, esp. at ...... airports like FRA, where when arriving at C and connecting anywhere else you do not stand a chance to keep airside...

Why shouldn't it be???

We are talking about Germany here, not the UK. And even in the UK some airports now operate some flights on Christmas Day.
