Well. on the other hand you can enjoy most Italian culinary regions without ever having to leave Bockenheim.

My experience in Germany is that the local restaurants and "Kneipen" with food really only serve regional favourites. You might get a few Bavarian and Swabian speciality places but are more likely to run into a Thai or even Austrian restaurant.

the real question is : Is FRA a typical German city ?
Like would you say NYC is a place to get typical American food... (BTW what is typical US food ? Hamburger, Pizza or Tacos... I am kidding.)
But for FRA it is for sure that you will have it easier to find Italian, Greek or Turkish rather than German... beside maybe some places in Sachsenhausen...

NYC and FRA are not that dissimilar. That's why FRA is called "Mainhattan". FRA is as typical of Germany as is NYC. In terms of food you have a multi-ethnic/multikulti cuisine. Both are neither the middle of the country (culturally, not geographically). And as e-frog said, what is typical US food? What is typical German food? It's all regional.
