6 hour layover in MUC

I've never been to Munich or the airport, but my flights were recently changed so I have a 6 hour layover instead of the original 2 hour one. Any suggestions on what to do?

a search brings up some similar threads. I suggest you read them and come back with more detailled questions. and you may want to add what airline you're flying since it has an impact on the terminal.

I am sure a search will reveal many suggestions, but in short you can easily take the S-Bahn into Munich (45 min max) and have a look around at minimum Frauenkirche, Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt etc. Last time I was in Munich I spent too much time in Hugendubel which is not much help unless you speak German! These links might also offer ideas:

The Viktualienmarkt is a must! It is a true only in Munich experience and you can get dinner to take on your connecting flight!

6 hour layover in Munich

Hi folks,
I have an approx 6 hour layover in Munich on Monday (reach at 1pm, depart at 8pm). I was wondering if anyone had ideas on what to do during that time? Is there enough time for me to head into Munich?

Also, I don't have status on United/Lufthansa so won't have access to their lounges.

Add'l note: I visited Munich 2 years ago, and did the touristy highlights while I was there. So have done a lot of the 'typical' activities already!

Would love any ideas!
Thanks!

You need ~40Min to the City Center and 40Min back to the Airport. I remember the Ticket cost ~25€ just in the City Center. You have just ~3h time for thats not verry much...

By Bus its a short ride. And you can leave you (Hand)Luggage there.

"MUC layover" generates multiple threads, including this one http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/germa...yover-muc.html that has several more threads embedded in it.

If you have paid 25 EUR, you have paid way too much. It is 11.20 EUR for a single day pass covering the network (called Innenraum and Auenraum; see http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/de/ticket...dex.html#c1897)

The train ride from airport to Stachus takes around 40 minutes using S 8 or 48 minutes using S 1. Since you have to clear security your time in downtown Munich will be reduced to 90 to 120 minutes.

Yes it is. And the OP (on Feb 9th) started a separate thread that the Moderator(s) consolidated into this one.

I'll be heading to MUC tomorrow with a 6+ hour layover (15:00-21:00), and have two questiond in mind:

-Is there a KaDeWe ewuivalent in Munich, or in its environs? Would that be the Viktualien markt as noted above?
-Is there a Namibian restaurant?

Danke,
BMB

PS, if anyone wants to meet up, that could work.
