Good to see, you´ve had a nice trip. Enjoy your next one - the sidetrip to Salzburg is indeed a very good idea!

I'm at the BMW Welt right now. Just picked up my car and did the factory tour - I get a big kick out of seeing how things get put together. I highly recommend this for anyone who's into cars or robots! Next step is a tour of the Welt and it's architecture. Then I'll hit the road for a bit and then check out some Christmas markets, eat sausage and drink gulwein!

I had some gluwein last Sunday, but it just didn't taste right to me, not as I remembered it. I said something to the guy next to me on the MUC-PHL flight, and he said it was too warm outside, it needs to be below freezing to drink and appreciate it. If you can get in, check out the LH senator's club at MUC, it was incredible, far better than US's clubs. |

First of all, I apologize for a slight thread-jacking. I'm doing a MUC MR tomorrow, and while all these nice spots outside of the airport sound lovely , I'm doing a slightly more "true" MR--I have an hour and twenty minutes @ MUC before turning around and heading back to the U.S. I know I'll have enough time for my turnaround (Thanks FT!), but I was curious where the best spot at the airport would be for getting a few Bavarian beers that I wouldn't be able to find in the States. Also, does MUC have free WiFi? That might influence my decision whether or not to bring my laptop. Thanks in advance my German FTers.

Chris So there is plenty of food availability. If you leave security, there is the Airbräu, if you stay inside, there are still plenty of other spots for beer. Just check out if they have it on draft. Good and famous Munich beer brands are Augustiner, Spaten, Paulaner, Erdinger Weizen, Franziskaner, Hofbräu, etc. Stay away from Löwenbräu. (of course all this is up to taste) If you have lounge access, go for the LH business or Senator lounge, both should have beer for you (for free) No free wireless internet in the terminal but you can pay for it by credit card, just using your browser! Any questions, please ask! Have fun! Very sorry to hear for you that you don't spend more time in Munich. The city is one of the most beautiful and especially you as an American would appreciate it! Have a great trip! |

What time will you be at MUC, you arrive on Sat or Sun? I will prolly visit the Senator's lounge on Sun when I arrive (around 11am), and would be happy to guest you in with me.... I'm on the US flight (#706). Shoot me an email or PM if you'll be there around that time.

You might want to post this in "Lounge meetings" on the Lufthansa Miles and More board! They appreciate it! (maybe not that a US Gold is crowding the Senator lounge with a guest :D but LH FTs would be happy to meet you!)

No, why should they? The hubby and I are coming for a quick weekend in January. Can't wait. |

Not specifically. I was thinking of any street markets open during the winter months for shopping. Since the Xmas ones are open during the cold weather I was hoping that non Xmas ones would continue to be open.

There is a "market" all year around called Viktualienmarkt. Take the train to "Marienplatz" and ask your way around. It's right around the corner and a "definite must" for Munich visitors! ^^
Thanks, Gwen |

I also heard there is a town near the airport (Freishing I think) with one of the oldest breweries in Germany, in an old monastery. Has anyone been there?
