While at the hotel, ask the staff to show you the magnificent Serpentine Room - it's worth a look

Worth going to Leipzig from Halle / Saale
Resurrecting the thread because I will be spending 4 days in Halle / Saale for a conference in June 2011. I'll be taking a day off. I am wondering whether it is worthwhile doing an excursion to Leipzig, or whether I should just go all the way to Berlin...

Myself and 2 friends are taking the train from Berlin to Leipzig for one night. Staying by the Hbf. Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for some kneipen or perhaps beerhalls in the vicinity. We would like to try some of the local gose bier.

A short walk from the Hbf is a little street/alley called "Barfugchen" that has a big concentration of pubs/bars/restaurants. Off of the Marktplatz (Central Square).

If you are looking for Gose, the "Goseschnke" in Leipzig-Gohlis might be the place to go. Large beergarden too. 5 stops from Hbf with tram 12 and you are there.
