Worth going to Leipzig from Halle / Saale

Resurrecting the thread because I will be spending 4 days in Halle / Saale for a conference in June 2011. I'll be taking a day off. I am wondering whether it is worthwhile doing an excursion to Leipzig, or whether I should just go all the way to Berlin...

Hi everybody. I'm new here.
What about night life? Does it exist? Any nightclubs? late open pubs ? Or simply places where I can enjoy a nice atmosphere.
Tks

Staying at " The Steigenberger Grandhotel Leipzig "

definitely go to Leipzig, there's so much to see if you're interested in history (did you know that Leipzig played a very important role in the revolution 1989?) or in music (did you know that J.S.Bach lived in Leipzig?)

I can give you more details if you want

Myself and 2 friends are taking the train from Berlin to Leipzig for one night. Staying by the Hbf. Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for some kneipen or perhaps beerhalls in the vicinity. We would like to try some of the local gose bier.

A short walk from the Hbf is a little street/alley called "Barfugchen" that has a big concentration of pubs/bars/restaurants. Off of the Marktplatz (Central Square).

If you are looking for Gose, the "Goseschnke" in Leipzig-Gohlis might be the place to go. Large beergarden too. 5 stops from Hbf with tram 12 and you are there.
