More like I know numerous people who have been to MUC and never set foot into Dachau or any other camp any where. I feel that reading about it and actually standing in it are 2 completely different things. I try to usually do things that are unique to where I am and not found elsewhere I actually learnt a tremendous amount by visiting Dachau and reading almost every single pic they had displayed, and I thought I knew most of it all before going, boy was I wrong

Might take a look at Andechs Monastery.

IIRC, was a 45 minute train ride out of Munich, then a nice hike to the actual Monastery. Very picturesque, and very good beer, brewed and served right on site, along with Bavarian food.
Believe there is a bus you can take instead of the "hike", in case of bad weather, etc.

While Andechs is lovely, I wouldn't go there on an 8 hour layover (which was the original timeframe). It would take at least two hours to get there on public transport alone.

Ah, yes. Missed the 8 hour layover specification. Thanks.
