Hi all-
Solo traveler traveling from Chicago to Berlin, with a 1h 15m layover, and a final destination in Munich.... this Saturday.
Couple of questions:
-Will I have enough time to make my next flight?
-Do I have to recheck my bags?
-Will I have to do anything with Customs or Immigration?
Totally freaking out. This is my first international flight and I'm going at it alone... any tips would be greatly appreciated

But normally it should fit, otherwise you take the next planeRecheck bags: If it is one ticket/ Airline: no
Immigration: Yes, because you enter Germany. German border control is not as complex as American

Packers fans are not allowed to ask for help on this board.
Provided you're on time (which the AB flight usually is), 75 minutes is plenty of time. TXL is a tiny airport that was scheduled to close years ago, so walking from gate A0 or A1, where you're likely to arrive, to the C gates, where you're likely to depart, will take 10-15 minutes tops. Unlike most airports, each gate at TXL has its own immigration facilities, so it can get a bit backed up on the jetbridge waiting to get off. Just make sure you're in the line for non-EU citizens and you'll be fine. They'll ask a couple of questions about how long you're staying and what the purpose of your visit is, and might ask for your connecting boarding pass, so make sure to have that handy.
As offerendum mentioned, you should be able to have your bags checked all the way to Munich from Chicago. If you're able, I would carry on the bags instead of check, as TXL is notorious for being worst than most when it comes to baggage during busy periods. If not, don't sweat it too much.
I would familiarize yourself with other TXL-MUC flights in case your flight is delayed from ORD. There are multiple daily flights, so even if you do miss the connection, they should be able to rebook you on another, such as the 10:40 flight, which has plenty of open seats.
Bottom line: don't stress out about it too much; enjoy the experience!

My 28 yo son and his g/f are on award tixs (Air Berlin) MIA-TXL TXL-FCO in October. early morning arrival 7:20 a.m. departure to Rome 8:55. They can probably do carryons (I can take their big bag they day before on my direct flight. - is that a good idea?)
This is their first international travel. I copied a map of Terminal C
recently I saw the flight from MIA arrived at C55 and left for Rome from C40.
Then I read here intl. flights come into a different terminal. Can someone explain the TXL process for Air Berlin? So they will clear immigration, and have to change terminals?? is there a shuttle? or walk?
Thanks...nervous mom.

If you have legs and can use them 90 minutes is plenty at TXL. I don't know if there is a shuttle because I never looked for it, I only know you wouldn't need it. One can walk from any point in TXL to any other point in under 20 minutes. Immigration is not really an issue in Germany and not comparable to the rigamarole at U.S. ports of entry. I've never heard any complaints about lines or extensive questioning at TXL.

TXL is a tiny airport and no two gates are more than a ten-minute walk from each other, assuming you walk at the speed of a normal person.
To both the OP and NervousMom, don't worry, you can't possibly do anything wrong at this airport; you won't get lost, and you won't miss your flight if everything is on time. If flights are late, you'll get put onto the next one.
