Jedermann is close to the main railway station which is arguably not the nicest area (but safe and central).
See if you can get a central hotel close to a U-Bahn or S-Bahn station. Few suggestions, there's a cheapish Holiday Inn (Munich City Center), Torbru or Mercure Altstadt. Not central, but probably good rates in Decemeber and pretty good hotels: Westin Arabellapark, Sheraton Westpark.

The Hilton is well-situated on a U-bahn, and close to everything.
If you get to Regensburg, stay there for late aft/early eve and be sure to go to the market by the "castle"--you have to pay, but it's my favorite memory from last year. Even better than Nuremburg's market which, though large, felt overrated.
