I went to borgota for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I lost $900 playing blackjack. I just called up the number to check how many comp points I had and I only have 28. Is that normal? Also, will I be eligible for a free room? Any help is appreciated.

You're not giving the information necessary to answer that question. Comp points and room offers are based on time played and average bet not on losses.

Oh, didn't know that. I played for about 4-5 hours at a minimum bet of $25.

Just login to the borgata website to check - $28 is probably right.

You enter your red card number and create a login- will show you all offers, such as rooms, match plays etc. you'll probably get a borg room offer for 2 nights sun-thurs- that's the start, if your play is higher they open up waterclub then suites and 7 day availability.

The only connection is through My Borgata's Vacations, where you can redeem your comp dollars for gift certificates at Boyd Gaming properties in LV.

Other methods are to contact your host at the Borgata (if you have one) and ask them if they can introduce you to a host they know in LV. If not, you can possibly contact the hotels directly and ask to speak to a host.

Yep good advice about the host - I don't think the Boyd properties there are exactly sexy, so an intro is a good route.

In Vegas we stay at Encore, we didn't get a host to introduce us, but I had played there in the past to show them what my play was like, and they were OK with making a comp 2 night Casino rate (based on play to become comp) 2 more nights. I reached out to them directly and set up a Line Of Credit too - just 10K and frankly it didn't make much difference there, would have at other properties.

Wynn/Encore are very nice properties, but again are some of the worst you could pick to get comps at, very similar to how Borgata/Waterclub are in AC.

Hello everyone, I'm new here, I wanted to ask a few questions about the borgata and was hoping someone here could help me.

I've been playing every Friday at the borgata, 1/2 no limit holdem for 7 hours each visit.
I only go on weekends, and don't want to drive back and forth on the same weekend, so I really want a Friday night room comp so I can spend 2 days down there.
does anyone have an idea of how many hours I would have to log playing 1/2 nlhe like this?
it seems 7 hrs is my max for a continuous session, my lower back starts killing me after that.
I'm pretty new to AC, I only have ~$40 comp dollars from the past month.

Poker doesn't earn comps very fast since it's less profitable for the casino than traditional table games (though hopefully you also lose less money). I believe Borgata has a pretty straightforward comp deal in terms of poker, a certain amount of comp dollars per hour played. For free rooms, a good estimate is roughly what your average comp dollar earnings per trip are -- in my experience when you start to be around $40 comp dollars earned per trip you can expect to get most Friday nights available as a comp. I'm pretty sure that level would be hard to reach just playing poker, especially at the lower-limit tables.

However, even playing the amount you do, you should have a discounted room rate showing up in your account, so it may be worth just paying for the room if it's worth it to you; if you book in advance and avoid holiday weekends the discounted rates can be quite reasonable.

Of course, the other way to get a comped room is to earn more comp dollars per trip, which probably means playing table games -- but of course there is an expected loss to the house for every dollar gambled there, and the house aims to give you back less in comps than you are expected over time to lose at the tables.

Quick Borgata black card question. I'm diamond at CET and upgraded to Borgata black in July. As I'm diamond at CET through March 2015, will Borgata renew my black card upgrade when it expires in July?

No. You would have to requalify based off their requirements for the Black Card.

I was wondering - is there some sort of formula, cashback rate % or even rule of thumb to estimate how much it takes to earn $1 in comp dollars at Borgata? My wife and I were thinking about making a go at earning Black Card status by focusing play on one card: She plays the slots (usually $.01 to $.25) while I play video poker (usually $.25). I realize video poker earns less comps than slots, but was wondering if there is some sort of avg total bet/per hour or the like that one could use to estimate comps earned.

We are local, so making enough trips wouldn't be the problem, but just wanted to be able to better gauge more accurately the volume of play it would take. Thanks in advance

Slot comps are typically earned on a fixed % of dollars bet (so if you make 10 $2 bets, you have bet $20, regardless of how fast you do it). Some casinos are quite forthcoming about their % return on slot bets, though Borgata isn't one of them -- I would guess about 1%, but you could also just do a controlled test one day and see what happens. (Note that if you start at $0 comp dollar balance, nothing will show up in your account until you earn at least $5, so factor that into your test.) The 1% may also be "shared" between comp dollars and slot dollars which could mean comp dollars on their own are less than 1%. Video poker will earn at a slower rate than slots, often about 1/3 or 1/4 the rate.

But, if you and your wife typically go to the Borgata together, it definitely makes sense to pool onto one card, since you'll get proportionally higher benefits being on one account than split over two. I believe this is all on the up-and-up with Borgata as well; I have definitely seen married couples put both players on one card at table games, for example.
