Cancel flight due to Winter storm.

I book a flight to LAS from MDW. Then I read about the Winter storm Elliot 12-20 to 12-24. I cancel the flight within 12 hrs of booking. There were 4 passengers on my booking, I got charged $198 (99+99) per passenger ( include return ).
I try to reach them and find out no phone support.
Started a Chat. Agent told me reason I got charged is that I cancel the flight with less then 7 days left for the flight to takeoff so 24 hr rule do not apply.
I mentioned I cancel due to winter storm and that advisory is posted on your web site and Midway airport is on the list. He said you cancel voluntarily so that dosent applied and even if the flight do get cancel later I still be charged for the cancellation.

So I email to customer service and explain the issue. CS responded back immediately and issue me a FULL Credit to my CC. Refund will take up to 7 business day.
Very much appreciated the CS agent who acted diligently and approved the refund without any hesitation.
Very impressed by this CS agent, response time and the outcome..

Will Definitely Fly Frontier again. I am also a Discount Den member..

Not happy with the Chat Agent who was not helpful at all. Agent keep referring to the Company policies..

One thing I still dont understand If i want to book a flight for my spouse and I am not part of the ticket then I am unable to use Discount Den... But If i am part of the ticket then I can add my household to the ticket..

You need to let Frontier make the first move regarding cancelling a flight if you don't want complications.

Sometimes you have to keep trying, as you did, if you're sure you've got a case. Happens a lot with travel.

With Frontier you've got the added stress of them not being able to put you on another carrier in nearly all instances, and that can add days to trying to get home when really bad things like this storm happen.

I booked this flight at much cheaper price as compare to what they asking now and it looks like its sold out.
A day before Chrisristmas Eve , I am sure my 4 seats will go to many needed people. Agent must have seen that those seats already taken at much higher prices.
so she was nice to offer Full refund to my CC. Its a night flight and if plane arrives then I am pretty sure it will take off from Chicago to Las Vegas. MDW is not bad during previous snow storm. Snow supposed to be passed by then it will be very windy and bone chilling temp. ORD get more cancelation since it get too much traffic to handle plus all those international flights who gets priority over domestic traffic..

News was saying MDW might have more cancellations. The reason given was the runways are short at MDW and the high winds require longer landing space. O'Hare has longer runways so will have more leeway for longer landings.

You might be right. Today's all flights from MDW to LAS and DEN are canceled. Tomorrow is worst with 40mph gusty winds.. My flight was Tomorrow. I think I made the right decision to cancel myself and was able to get my $$$ back.
I recall many years back think Southwest ran out of runway and ended on the road after crossing the barriers. No one was killed or seriously injured if I can recall. Yes those planes comes in Hot when landing and you always think when they going to stop.
I usually use Ohare for my travel.

I remember that incident. Unfortunately, a 6 year old passenger in the vehicle died.

My LAS - MDW flight got canceled for today last evening. I used my miles to book the flight. No other flights were available today so I selected the refund option. I assume my miles will be redeposited in my account for use again but I haven't seen them show up yet in my account. The email I received after cancelling just said it was processing and that was late last evening. I want to rebook ASAP but I want to use those miles to rebook. Am I correct to assume since Frontier cancelled my rewards flight those miles will be redeposited back in my account and how long roughly will it take? I'm trying to rebook for Sunday. No one is responding on their chat service, I've sat on it for an hour several times and no one is responding on their end. Any advice any one has here would be appreciated.

Try the email option..
You might get a quick response.
I was on the MDW to LAS flight but I canceled myself 2 days ago knowing they will be canceled.
Looks like 4 flights get canceled for Thu and Fri.
I will be surprised if you get a seat on Sunday flight with miles

I'm trying to rebook for St Louis actually. Will they redeposit my miles to reuse though, that's what I'm trying to find out. I have been on Tier 1 chat support and the past hour they are supposedly trying to transfer me to their tier 3 to find out that simple question. I can't rebook it until they hopefully redeposit my miles.

I am sure they will follow the company policy. I dont know what the policy is. Keep pushing them you have a valid case since you return the miles. I think email CS Rep has more power then the Chat agents.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried both methods. No reply yet on my email and 3 hours solid sitting in chat with no "Tier 3" agent responding. I think this shows you the limitations of their new CS system. First major winter storm and it's impossible to get thru to anyone for help.

Looks like the system is not designed to handle these situations where hundred of there flights get canceled and every passenger from those flights trying to reach them.
Not having a Voice agent is a bad idea. Not sure any other airlines follow the same..

Did you use the online feedback form or does CS have an email address? My refund request is taking a long time and chat doesnt seem to know how to escalate..
