Dedicated to the cause

So here we are ... in late November with no status multiplier in sight. i have 100k status and would like to keep it for 2023. I currently qualified for 50k, but going to make the push to 100k over the next month. Here I am booking 11 round trip flights from MCO to SAN to get the miles needed to keep my 100k. $900 later and sleeping on planes for thr most part (overnight flights) and I will keep my status. Call me crazy but 100k is the only way to travel with Frontier (I routinely fly with large groups). At $189 each way per passenger, it's a no brainer. One trip with 8 people will save the $900 I am spending now. Next year I'll just space it out and do 2 trips to Vegas a month. I was hoping for a status multiplier but doesn't look like that is happening. Who is crazy like me and does these things to keep status? See ya in the skies 😁

Im exactly in the same boat. 50k miles so far and would have to do 11 trips between now and 12/31 to keep 100k status. I weighed the pros and cons and decided its not worth the time and money for me. The main advantage of 100k over 50k is refund ability of the works package and checked bags. I dont need these perks when I travel alone but If I take any big family trips next year and really needed these two perks, Ill just pay for it. Im still hoping Frontier does a multiplier promo these last few weeks in which case Ill do the 2-3 trips to Vegas to keep 100k status, but 11 trips in 4 weeks? No way.

Yeah im not thrilled about it but the Works saves me a ton of money. I routinely travek with 4+ people and the bags alone would be way more than the $800 I would spend for this for the year. So going to dig in and do it.

Do you routinely travel to the same places or do you have some of your 2023 travel already planned?

I think the best option for those of us in a similar situation is to try and book as far into 2023 as you can with your Works benefits by the end of the year. What does your hourly wage work out to if you're going to take that many flights simply for the sake of status? It never seems worthwhile to me if you value your time and you'd have to pay me a lot to be sleeping on F9 flights etc.

I am a photographer and I fly with clients around the country for portrait sessions. 100k status allows them to bring their checked bag for clothing and whatnot. Most of my trips are 4-8 people flying with me. 50k would work well since we have seats and personal bags. I get my carry on (camera bag) free.. but then we need to pay for the extra bags. Plus having flexibility allows me to book a flight and rebook it if it's cheaper. Just did that for a flight next week where it's now $57 and not $150 we paid 2 weeks ago. Also allows us to cancel for bad weather, even if flights don't get cancelled. I could certainly plan family vacatoons until April or so but I have no idea who is traveling with me for the business trips. I organically flew 33k miles this year. Got the 20k bonus from donation.

For me, I would be sleeping on the planes. Flights out are 630pm and landing back in MCO at 6am or so. I can sleep anywhere, so that is not an issue. But then it's 2hrs in a car for each trip and and gas.

I Figure I would spend almost $1000 to keep the status, but it would save me (or my clients) $400+ a flight. Wouldn't take long to break even.

And since I am not missing time in the office and really only missing sleeping at home, its not a huge inconvenience or revenue loss by closing down the office.

I was shocked to discover I had only 9,300 or so EQMs heading into requalification season; I looked at my history and it was near normal, but I had more award flights than usual. Looks like that was the most affordable thing to do with the high demand months.

So I'm doing four trips between now and year-end on the $19 fares to at least get the 20K (IAH, PHX and LAS), with 3 of those as mini-trips and one as a pure MR...wish I could stay longer on the trips and it's the cheapest time of the whole year for LAS on weekdays, but am too busy with work. Would likely go for the 50K like last year if they did a multiplier deal; for me the big 50K advantage is booking the stretch or exit seats at the time of booking. Am usually very light on bags, with the carry-on at 20K a real "must" for a benefit. Flying to Asia for 2 weeks on 3 separate occasions as an air courier in the 90s and being limited to carry-ons only was a crash course in traveling light.

Looks like I've got $209 total in all the tickets, with a $38 RT MR to PHX "wasted" because I later booked the same dates for a short trip to LAS. Though if a workload crunch gets bad enough I could always take the PHX one and not do the LAS one. I like the early December trips out there, though; about the only downside is the shorter days. I try to do MRs only if I have to, but 'tis the season.
