Question about status miles

Hi there,

This is my first post in FlyerTalk and please let me know if there is anything I need to pay attention. Thank you!

I have a question regards to the Frontier Elite Program and want to know if anyone here ever had similar experiences.

As far as I known previously from other airline programs, you need to take the flight to get the status mileage towards to the elite status. However, my car was shut down on my way to the airport this Monday which made me miss my flight. Later I noticed that I still earned status miles from this flight. May I know if anyone ever had similar experiences? Does it mean we can book a ticket without flying to earn the status miles?

Frontier is sometime inconsistent in applying their policies.

Also remember your miles will expire in 180 days, unless you earn more.

Hi rsteinmetz70112,

Thank you for your reply and reminder. I actually just found the later one I took this morning didn't count into the total miles right now although it appears in the list of details. I am trying to reach the elite 20k with two more roundtrips so that it may help if it turns to earn the status miles without flying. I will contribute data points later for people who are interested in it.

Thank you~

Did they simply move you to a later flight? Southwest has an informal "flat tire rule" where if you arrive at the airport withing 2 hours or so of your original flight they will put you on a later flight at no cost, if space is available.

If you paid for the later flight and you didn't get credit for the later one, you can apply to Frontier for those miles up to 180 days after the flight.
