Frontier Personal Item

I recently flew Frontier from Orlando to Nashville. Our trip was Saturday to Wednesday. I carried a small backpack for two people. We carried 1 pair of jeans, one pair of shorts, 4 t shirts 8 pair of uw, meds, makeup & itinerary. I also had a small ziplock with contents of my purse..such as wallet, lipstick, phone & keys. All the clothes were rolled tightly. Needless to say the bookbag wasn't even full to capacity and it fit nicely under the seat. We carried our hoodies and flannels and either wore them or tied them around our waste. We have found you can get by with a lot less than you think. We saved $80 bucks which basically paid most of our car rental.

Just got back off a round trip RDU-LAS and Frontier seems to be OK as long as you aren't breaking the Spirit of the personal item size. I saw a couple of people with bags that were slightly bigger than the bin and they didn't hassle them.

My wife and I and our three kids took 5 backpacks with us and nothing else on an $80 round trip flight to Orlando from the West Coast. We packed them full and they didn't fit very well. They were very accommodating.

Hubby and I fly Frontier between Orlando and Las Vegas frequently. We each have an American Tourister "boarding bag" that meets Frontier's underseat guidelines (available on Amazon.) Last Sunday we got home from four days in Las Vegas - and managed to carry everything we needed in those bags. For me it was five outfits, two pairs of PJs, under-things, cosmetics, tablet, phone, chargers, neck wallet and an extra pair of shoes. We generally pay $33 - $37 per person airfare each way (one time only $15 each way!) The only time we paid for luggage was when we went for a week and shared one checked bag.

I bought this from Costco a year ago and it's within the dimensions of both Frontier, Spirit, WOW air. Haven't tried it for United. It's pretty small and doubt you'll get hassled. Pretty much fits a medium packing cube (not a lot), but likely you can get away with a few more inches since the bins are always slightly bigger than listed dimensions, and even then as others have said some agents are more accommodating than others.

I am flying F9 for the first time in 2 weeks. I will only be bringing a SwissGear 1900 backpack with me. Will it qualify as a personal item? It has always fit under the seat in front of me without a problem. Thanks for any info provided.

Don't forget the possibility of using "compression bags" to squeeze your clothing into a smaller space. They work pretty well. I have found the BEST compression bags are the ones that suck the air out with a vacuum cleaner, but I don't use them often because I don't usually have access to a vacuum cleaner when I'm "on the road," so I don't want my bag to be bigger for the flight home.
