Don't forget the possibility of using "compression bags" to squeeze your clothing into a smaller space. They work pretty well. I have found the BEST compression bags are the ones that suck the air out with a vacuum cleaner, but I don't use them often because I don't usually have access to a vacuum cleaner when I'm "on the road," so I don't want my bag to be bigger for the flight home.
