just tell Frontier you will not be able to make the 1st leg

I just did this today. First I booked online the new outbound flight as a one way ticket. I then called Frontier at 801-401-9000 to tell them I would not be on the 1st leg of the round trip ticket. He said normally there would be a $99 cancellation fee, but since the tickets were less than that and I called to let them know we would not be on that first plane, he would waive the fee. I did not mention to the guy on the phone that I had booked a different flight. Just said we wanted to let them know we wouldn't be on that flight, but still needed the return leg.

I managed to do this today. The first agent I spoke to said I could just no-show for my first flight and they wouldn't cancel the return. I didn't really trust that, so I called again to get a different agent. The second agent told me the same thing. I still don't really know if that's true, so I insisted on cancelling the outbound to make myself feel better. She kept quoting the $99 cancellation fee, but my ticket was less than that round trip and the fee is deducted from the cancelled tickets value so it doesn't really matter.

With the pilot shortage at Frontier if you wait they just might cancel the flight for you!

Where do you get your information? As far as I can find the Pilots Union has warned about an eventual "meltdown" which Management disputes. According to the latest DoT reports Frontier's cancellation rates are middle of the pack and far from the worst reporting airlines.

See the other thread you commented on. Frontier has been canceling pilots vacations and taking other steps to try and man the schedule. They are however robbing from the future as pilots start hitting the 1000 hour 12 month limit.

I am dealing with this issue today. Have a round trip ticket from CO to MO. My uncle just passed away so I will be driving back prior to scheduled outgoing flight. When I called they confirmed I would still have the return flight if I miss the first one. Spoke to two reps that told me same thing.....just wondering if it actually worked.

Kelly Pierce - I'm going to attempt to do this same thing for a flight in December. Can you confirm if you were able to actually no-show the first leg of your trip without incurring any fees or having Frontier cancel your flight home to CO?

Im attempting to do this tomorrow...wish me luck.

as an aside...its not about avoiding fees...I simply have no faith frontier call center could do what I required. No confidence.

Two agents did repeat that if you no show the first leg, the second would be unaffected. Ill find out if that is true - but the website seems to indicate that.

A recent post in another thread noted that they still had the option to check in for the return flight after no-showing the outbound.
