Unloading remaining F9 miles without flying

In light of the recent changes to the FF program and the fact that I can't stand to fly F9 any more (no PreCheck, ridiculous baggage fees, surly employees, etc.) I've decided that I should unload the last of my EarlyReturns miles before they become completely worthless. Has anyone had any luck selling them or redeeming them for things other than airfare? Obviously the websites that allow you to transfer miles are a complete rip off, but perhaps there's another way to use them that I've overlooked?

I have ~78,000 miles to unload (mostly earned flying into DRO, TEX, and HDN because they used to be a great alternative to renting a car when skiing).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Well you have car rentals 37,000 will get you a midsize car for a week at National

45,000 will get you a SUV or Minivan for a week at Hertz

Also some 1,2 or 3 day options from Avis/Hertz/National between 6,000 to 7,500 a day for a mid size/intermediate.

Ouch, I figure that at something less than 0.5 cpm most places (probably less by the time you add taxes not covered by the certificate). Their sole hotel partner is pretty bad too. 25,000 miles is a pretty terrible deal for any Radisson other than the one in SF which is where I live and thus have little use for a hotel. Has anyone tried writing off FF miles when you donate them? How do you document the value?

Actually the SUV at Hertz might not be a bad deal, but I'm Executive with National and can usually get one at the mid-size price so it's not particularly attractive to me.

Having the same issues - the 2-ski-bag fees are killing the only cheapo way to get my rider back & forth to Colorado and Utah for his world cup comps.
I just exchanged the miles in his account for a very reasonable amount of IHG points, that can be put to good use for point break stays I figured.
Perhaps this is an idea ?

Hey, Travelomania...

...I just checked with IHG on the phone, and they said Frontier Airlines is not a partner in their system. Can I ask how you exchanged your ff Frontier miles for your very reasonable amount of IGH points? Would love to know.

Thanks!

Through Points.com the ER miles can be exchanged for IHG points at a rate of 1000:297.
The points will post within 24-48 hrs.
There are very few other options thru Points.com and those rates are even worse, but IMO the ER > IHG transfer is better than miles used for worthless magazines/newspapers that end up unread in the recycling anyway
