Summit expiration extended?
I hit Summit renewal level recently and just noticed the expiration date for it on my account page is given as 6-30-2015 rather than the expected 1-31-2015.
Has anyone else notice this change or heard anything about it?

Are you sure that is the expiration of the Summit status or is just the expiration of the mileage balance. I see a similar date on mine, but it isn't clear which of these two it refers to, I am assuming it is referring to the mileage balance. I note that if I ask it to reprint a picture of my Summit membership card, that print still says January 2014.
Or maybe under the new ultra low cost regime the Summit won't really mean anything, so they're free to give it to us for longer!!!

Yeah that makes sense, though my recollection was that it used to be the expiration date of the elite status.
Anyway, that 18-month period fits with this info from the FAQ.

Do EarlyReturns miles ever expire?
Mileage in a member's account will not expire so long as the member generates accrual activity in the account. Unredeemed mileage accumulated in a member's account will expire at the end of the 18 months after the last accrual activity date. For example, the last mileage posting, of any kind, flight or partner as of October 2012 is valid until April 2014 unless the member has accrual activity in the interim.

It's definitely not clearly labeled on their website - at a quick glance, one could easily assume the expiration is specific to the status, not mileage.
