Summit expiration extended?
 

I hit Summit renewal level recently and just noticed the expiration date for it on my account page is given as 6-30-2015 rather than the expected 1-31-2015.

Has anyone else notice this change or heard anything about it?

I just checked when you said something and my ascent status now expires 3/31/15.

Are you sure that is the expiration of the Summit status or is just the expiration of the mileage balance. I see a similar date on mine, but it isn't clear which of these two it refers to, I am assuming it is referring to the mileage balance. I note that if I ask it to reprint a picture of my Summit membership card, that print still says January 2014.

Or maybe under the new ultra low cost regime the Summit won't really mean anything, so they're free to give it to us for longer!!! ;)

That expiration has to be for the miles. I've yet to requalify for Summit and my exp. date is also 6-30-15

Yeah that makes sense, though my recollection was that it used to be the expiration date of the elite status.

Anyway, that 18-month period fits with this info from the FAQ.

I received my Summit card a month or so ago and the date is 01/15

I see the miles expire on 6/15 but when I did the print member card it stated 1/2015.

Yup - my page says 03/31/2015, but the printed card says 01/31/2015.

It's definitely not clearly labeled on their website - at a quick glance, one could easily assume the expiration is specific to the status, not mileage.
