why no mobile app?

Why doesn't Frontier have a mobile app? Every other airline seems to have one especially Southwest and United.

Mostly comes down to, it hasn't been a priority since they've been massively overhauling their full website, and their software team can only do so much at one time.

Massively overhauling the website? I must have missed something, Mike.

2+ months ago, @frontiercare tweeted

We are currently in the process of developing a mobile compatible site that should be implemented soon.
I've not seen anything further, since.

They went from a Java powered website to ASP.Net. Even though some of the content didn't change, every single page was touched. Hopefully they did it right so enhancements going forward are easier.

Hopefully, there are more enhancements going forward. If Siegel wants to increase website bookings, they are going to have to make the site functional 100% of the time.

In its present incarnation, sometimes you can complete a booking, other times, you have to pick up the phone.

I would be happy if they manage to enhance their web site, e.g. change a seat assignment. As long as they have a backlog of things to do on their web site they should really focus on it. I can worst case open their web site on my iphone if needed but the lack of functionality is annoying.

Pretty sure you _can_ do that on the new website now, under the "My Bookings" - go in to make a change like you are going to change flights/dates, and I saw a "Change/Assign Seats" link when I checked last week.

Looks like it's just a link or wrapper to the mobile website... which does work pretty well.

+1 on changing seat assignments...almost one year after this post. I figure by 2025 or so F9 will figure out this part of the website, which almost every other airline has had for years.

It works now (not sure when they implemented it). Just tried it on an existing reservation and there is a seat change option now that shows the regular seat map.

Next on the list: mobile boarding passes.

Actually, that'll take awhile. A long while. But with today's high resolution phone screens you could probably just display the same PDF417 code that's printed on boarding passes, and you wouldn't need to mess with the at-gate scanners any.

United has been doing that for years and it generally seems to work fine, both at security and at the gate.
