STRETCH pricing is no longer flat fee pricing. It will continue to be tweaked as Greg Aretakis has stated.

The West Coast apparently remains at $50.00. I heard from a relative who returned to PHX over the weekend. She upgraded for $50.00.

They wanted $15 for MKE-MCI and $35 for MKE-MCI-AUS last night. You can see the difference per segment ($15 for < 1 hr, $20 < 2 hrs?). I'm glad I didn't bite though as we got a Republic aircraft with no STRETCH seats. Strange they were trying to sell upgrades at the gate, maybe a last minute switch?

Anyway, a thought had occurred to me that what if they rename Classic Plus to Business and got rid of the STRETCH branding. Then they can just sell "Business" upgrades at the kiosk which include all of the current Classic Plus benefit plus gaurenteed Business/STRETCH seats. Wouldn't have the width of a normal Business class but would make for easy marketing to current Airtran travelers that like their Biz seats.

Here's my two cents...

I think renaming Classic Plus as "Business" would create confusion and would potentially create dissonance with Airtran flyers if they are the target. If F9 were to go that route, then in my mind, they would need to go to 2 x 2 seating (with wider seats) in the Airbus fleet to be comparable.

When I used to fly to Atlanta frequently from Denver, I preferrerd Airtran for the simple fact I really liked their Business class product. Frontier's stretch is nothing more than Economy Plus on United.
