Frontier: What to expect

I've been using Jetblue for travel to various confrences that happen a few times a year, but they all seem to be happening in Salt Lake City. Unfortunately Jetblue only has 4 flights daily, 2 to/from LGB and 2 to/from JFK. The SLC-JFK flight is a redeye. I hate red-eyes. With B6's on-time performance the prospect of a 3 hour delay on a redeye does not sound appealing. Yes, I'm getting to the Frontier connection right now. I was considering using Frontier as they have Direct TV and a better schedule to SLC. I have a few questions.

1. What is Frontiers seat pitch? I'm used to the 34" pitch from B6.

2. Is it snack service or is it food for purchase?

3. I see frontier's Free Ticket is 15,000 miles, whats the catch?

1. seat pitch: about 33" 2. free snacks. westbound (lga-den) will be a tray of packaged snack items, e.g raisins, sausage, cheese, crackers, and something sweet. Eastbound out of Denver there will be a warm wrap with chips. No food between DEN and SLC. 3. no catch to the free ticket for 15,000 miles. Plus availability is very good for award seats.

Also, it's worth mentioning that DirecTV costs $5 per segment for non-elites, and on LGA-DEN, and DEN-LGA you will also have the choice of a few Pay-Per-View movies costing $5 as well...besides that, Frontier is a great airline, and I'm sure you'll really enjoy your flights with them!

Not on F9's website. Award tix come out of "s" bucket, which is viewable on the flyaow site, among others. If you see "s" seats, you can get a free ticket. I have been able on occassion to get a free seat when s shows 0 on that site.

Thanx!

A couple more questions. 1) Do you need to have all required miles before let you reserve the seats? 2) Does Frontier allow courtesy hold and how long?

Checking the S fare bucket, there are "9S" available for the desired flights. Does Frontier offer that many award seats? I need 5 tickets and I was thinking that I may have to buy 1 or more tickets...

I don't think they will let you hold award seats without ticketing. But if you see 9 "s" seats you should be able to get 5. Welcome to the wonderful world of F9 award availability. I'm going to guess based on my experience that you had your choice of flights on your desired dates as well. Am I right?

Thanks for the info. Since I don't have all of miles, I need to transfer DC pts. Usually AA and UA allows courtesy hold (used to be 2 weeks) which allow me to transfer DC pts.
