Eligibility
Open only to legal U.S. residents of the fifty (50) states of the United States of America and the District of Columbia who are 21 years of age or older as of 8/01/05. Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 AM PT on 8/01/05 and ends at 11:59 PM PT on 9/2/05 ("Sweepstakes Period"). For purposes of this Sweepstakes, all times refer to Pacific Time.
How to Enter
There are two ways to enter into the Sweepstakes. To enter via the Internet ("Internet Entry"): Access the National Geographic Channel Web site at www.nationalgeographic.com/channel/ ("Web Site") during the Sweepstakes Period. Once there, click on the Sweepstakes icon or text link, either of which will take you to the Sweepstakes home page and entry form. Then, complete and thereafter transmit the entry form. Information required on the entry form consists of your first and last name, complete home address (including zip code, no P.O. Boxes), telephone number (including area code), date of birth, and e-mail address (collectively "Entry Information"). Internet Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. PT on 9/2/05. Limit one (1) Internet Entry per person/household per day. Entries in excess of the stated limit will be disqualified. To enter via Postal Mail ("Mail Entry"): Visit your local participating store or cable affiliate office and obtain an official entry form. On the entry form legibly handprint your Entry Information (e-mail address optional), affix postage and mail to: National Geographic Channel “Most Amazing” Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 2274, Pasadena, CA 91102-2274 OR legibly hand-print Entry Information (e-mail address optional) on a standard sized postcard or on a piece of paper enclosed in a postage-paid business size (#10) envelope and mail to: National Geographic Channel “Most Amazing” Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 2274, Pasadena, CA 91102-2274. Mail Entries must be mailed separately, postmarked by 9/2/05, and received by 9/11/05. Proof of delivery or receipt of an Internet, or Mail Entry (collectively "Entry") will not be deemed by Fox Cable Networks ("Sponsor") as proof of entry. All required Entry Information must be completed in full. No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of entry forms/Entry accepted. Any attempted form of entry other than as described herein is void. Employees of Sweepstakes Entities (defined below) and their immediate families and members of their same households are ineligible. Odds of winning will be determined by the number of eligible entries received. Odds of winning equal regardless of method of entry. Once submitted, entries become the sole property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.
Winner Notification
Winners will be selected on or about September 14, 2005, by random drawing from among the eligible entries received, by an independent judging agency, the decisions of which shall be final and binding. Potential prize winners will be notified by phone, and/or mail. If a potential winner cannot be reached after a reasonable effort has been exerted, if he/she is found to be ineligible, if he/she cannot or does not comply with these Official Rules, and/or if his/her prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, that potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate potential winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries, at Sponsor's sole discretion. If the alternate potential winner is found to be ineligible, or if he or she has not complied with these Official Rules or declines a prize for any reason prior to award, another alternate winner will be selected until all of the prizes are awarded. In the event more winner notifications are issued, or more winning prize claims are received, than the number of prizes set forth in these rules due to computer, printing, seeding, human or other error or problem, a random drawing will take place from among all eligible prize claims for prize(s) at issue to award the proper number of prizes as set forth in these rules. No more than the stated number of prizes per these Official Rules and Regulations will be awarded. Sponsor is not responsible/liable for Entries that are late, illegible, mutilated, tampered with, forged, destroyed, delayed, incomplete, lost, misdirected, misplaced, stolen, multiple entries entered by other than human means (such as by an automated computer program or any non-human mechanism, entity, or device), mechanically duplicated and mass machine printed, postage-due, or Entries otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules (and such Entries will be disqualified). Approximately 125,000 entry forms will be distributed but odds of winning a prize depend on the total number of eligible Entries received during the Sweepstakes period.
Prizes
One (1) Grand Prize: One (1) Grand Prize winner and one (1) Guest (“Guest”) will enjoy a thirteen (13) day trip to Zanzibar and Tanzania. Trip consists of the following: round-trip coach class air transportation from a major commercial airport near winner's residence (as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion) to Trip Destination; standard hotel accommodations (single room/double occupancy) for thirteen (13) days / twelve (12) nights in Trip Destination; ground transportation; visits to some of Tanzania’s game parks: Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti and Lake Manyara; and a chance to meet a National Geographic expert (game park visits and personality appearance subject to availability). Trip must be taken January 16-28, 2006. Approximate Retail Value ("ARV") of Grand Prize is: $17,000. One (1) First Prize: A $1,000 Gift Certificate from nationalgeographic.com. Three (3) Second Prizes: Lomo Camera collection. Camera collection includes set of 5 Lomo cameras. ARV of each Second Prize is: $250. Total ARV of second prizes is: $750. Five (5) Third Prizes: Framed National Geographic print. ARV of each Third Prize is: $100. Total ARV of third prizes is: $500. Total ARV of all Prizes is: $19,250. Limit 1 prize per person/family/household. All components of the Grand Prize are subject to availability. The actual retail value of the Grand Prize may vary depending upon the departure location and fluctuation in airfare. Airfare does not include government taxes, Passenger Facility Charge or September 11th security fee. Flight insurance, travel insurance, telephone charges, gratuities, personal expenses, incidental charges and all other expenses not specified as being awarded herein are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize winner and their respective guest. Trip is subject to air/ground travel availability, hotel availability, holiday and blackout dates, confirmation of reservations, and all other prize and travel restrictions. Grand prize Winner must confirm travel at least ninety (90) days prior to departure. Sponsor reserves the right to structure travel route in its sole discretion. Air tickets are non-refundable/non-transferable and are not valid for upgrades and/or frequent flyer miles. All tickets are subject to the vagaries of flight variation, work stoppages, and schedule or route changes. Grand Prize trip must be taken during the time period specified. Grand Prize winner and Guest must have a valid U.S. driver's license and/or US passport to take Grand prize trip. Any vaccinations required to travel are the responsibility of the winner and his/her guest. Trip dates are subject to change. No substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for a prize, except that Sponsor at its sole discretion may substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value for any reason. Grand Prize winner and Guest must take air travel on same itinerary. Once determined, no change, extension or substitution of Grand Prize trip dates is permitted, except by Sponsor at its sole discretion. If travel guest is a resident of a jurisdiction that deems him/her to be a minor, he/she must be accompanied by his/her parent/legal guardian, and such person must pay his/her own expenses unless deemed to be the Grand Prize winner.
General Prize Conditions
Winners are solely responsible for all costs, incidentals, and any other expenses not specifically mentioned as being included, as well as all Federal, state and/or local taxes, and prize winners may be issued an IRS Form 1099 for the ARV of any awarded prize. Sweepstakes is subject to these Official Rules and all federal, state and local laws (collectively "Rules and Laws"). Prizes will be shipped to U.S. addresses only. Any depiction of prizes is for illustrative purposes only. Potential winners may be required to sign, execute, have notarized, and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release, tax acknowledgement forms, (where legal) a Publicity Release and any other documentation that Sponsor requires (collectively "Affidavit/Release") within five (5) business days after receipt by potential winner(s) or potential winner(s) may be disqualified and alternate potential winner(s) may be selected. Grand Prize winner's Travel Guest (his/her parent/legal guardian if he/she is a resident a jurisdiction that deems him/her to be a minor) will be required to sign, execute, have notarized, and return a Waiver of Liability Release, a Publicity Release and any other documentation that Sponsor requires within five (5) business days after receipt by potential winner. By submitting the completed and signed Affidavit/Release, winners attest to the authenticity of his/her winning entry. Once submitted, Entries become the sole property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Any personal information supplied by entrants to Sponsor or its affiliates will be subject to Sponsor's Privacy Policy. Thus, except where prohibited by law: (1) entry and/or winners' acceptance of prize constitutes permission for the Sweepstakes Entities to use winners name/address (city and state) photo/likeness/biographical information/statement/voice for advertising/publicity purposes worldwide and in all forms of media (including posting on Web site), in perpetuity, without further notice/compensation in connection with said Sweepstakes or the prize awarded and (2) Sponsor has the right to modify/edit/adapt/electronically alter/use/assign and/or dispose of such Entries however it sees fit and for any purpose without any notice or compensation to entrant or any third parties. By submitting entry form, entrant confirms accuracy and veracity of the statements and information contained therein.
General Release
Any person attempting to defraud or tamper with Sweepstakes will be prosecuted and is not eligible for a prize. If, for any reason, the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as originally planned, Sponsor at its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel the Sweepstakes without notice and conduct the drawing from among all salvageable Entries received, if any. By entering Sweepstakes, entrants agree and acknowledge to be bound by the Rules and Laws, as well as the decisions of Sponsor and/or Sweepstakes Administrator which are final and binding in all respects; to waive any rights to claim ambiguity with the Rules and Laws, and that Sweepstakes Entities shall have no responsibility or liability (including, but not limited to, liability for any property loss, damage, personal injury or loss of life) in connection with: participation in this Sweepstakes; human error; incorrect or inaccurate transcription of Entry Information; acceptance/possession, use/misuse, and/or defects of the prizes awarded herein; and/or entry forms that contain printing, typographical, any technical malfunctions of the telephone network, computer online system, computer dating mechanism, computer equipment, software, internet service provider; interruption or inability to access Sweepstakes, Web Sites or online service via the internet due to hardware or software compatibility problems; any damage to entrants (or any third person's) computer and/or its contents related to or resulting from any part of this Sweepstakes; any lost/delayed data transmissions, omissions, interruptions, defects and/or any other errors or malfunctions, or other errors even if caused by the negligence of one of the Sweepstakes Entities.
