Maybe your alias was intimidating or me overly sensitive.
Anyway, I don't normally look at omni (only occasionally when "new posts" worked) and or the Paris forum. But I've been researching this once-in-a-lifetime month in Paris and looking way back.
If you have any Paris favorites, please feel free to mention them as we still have a few days left. Don't know if I can take anymore museums though. We tried to go to the cemetery today but it was closed due to weather...go figure. It was finally a sunshiney, decent day. Guess it's the French way.

Lots of ice in public parks and places like Pre Lachaise (I assume that is the cemetery you wanted to visit?) over the last few days after the cold and snow and humidity all week (parts of the Tuileries Gardens have been closed this week due to icy conditions, for example).Originally Posted by cecelia

They were letting a few in who may have had family buried there. We tried to slip in with some locals on a walk about but we were all denied. Who knows, I may have relatives buried there as my family is French but I couldn't convince the guards for permission without the language. They guards said the reason for closing was "catastrophic" but the locals were also very frustrated about the situation. They said it was due to liability and the general opinion, after seeing the broad walkways were perfectly clear, was that it was stupid.
It was disappointing after a long (but interesting) bus ride.
But thanks for your explanation. I have been experiencing this horrid weather, too.

Not to make (too much) light of the situation, but, I thought, at first, that you were saying the guards thought your French was catastophic. Originally Posted by cecelia

BTW, I would think Paris would be amazingly beautiful with snow. Would be interested in yours, Blair's or anyone else's pictures.

Quite beautiful, though it didn't last too long on the ground except in parks and gardens - it was VERY quiet while the snow was falling, which was nice. Hell on a Vespa, though. Originally Posted by ILuvParis
