T3 at CDG?

I have an early morning flight (7 am) out of CDG on Iberia Express, connecting in MAD for an IB flight to the US. (Prior to this, I didn't even realize that CDG had a third terminal.) What can I expect in regards to finding food/coffee and just a place to hang out while I wait for my flight? On the IB forum, a helpful poster classified T3 as a "large shed," so my expectations are rather low. But still hoping to come up with a basic plan for the early morning.

T3 is just a reassembled hangar from a trade show or something like that from 20 years ago. It was designed for low cost flights and provides equivalently low cost services.

This is an excellent description for what T3 is, although I would say it was designed for chartered flights and not for LCC, as they did not exist at that time. For an unknown reason, this terminal was called T9 for many years, until ADP finally decided to call it logically T3.
To OP : of course, you'll find coffee and food. Just set your expectation level very low and everything will be fine

Oh, I had forgotten "T9" -- that was such a ridiculous name. I would like to know the back story about how it was chosen.

(Okay, I just did a quick web search, and they're acting as though the T9 had never existed except for this old article, if you can read French: A Roissy, l'arogare minimale. Entre les terminaux gants 1 et 2, le T9 est un immense hangar destin aux charters. Un peu droutant pour les voyageurs qui s'y bousculent en t. – Libration (liberation.fr) )

I appreciate the feedback on T3 as well as the history (T9?) I need to balance out my tendency to get airports really early (an affliction, I never had until I hit retirement age) with the fact that I won't be in particularly swank surroundings. There is a 3-hour connection in MAD and I'll have access to the IB lounge, so I'll still get a chance for a decent (but later) breakfast there.

My last couple of times this month of using the CDGVAL to transfer to T3 have involved such crowds that getting off the CDGVAL and going up to the vast emptiness of T3 was appreciated relief with all that space.
