Strasbourg
Help,
I will be visiting Strasbourgh for the first time in June. Parliament is meeting the days I will be there and in addition a huge group of doctors coming as well.
Will the city be too busy?
Having Parliament meet the days we will be staying there does this make the city over-crowded?

Strasbourg is a BIG city. It is used to absorbing both Parliamentary and Council of Europe delegates and has a large and adequate congress centre.
You will need to book your accommodation well in advance ... many delegates stay in the Holiday Inn which is not far from the European Institutions, but I am sure you will have no problems touring the centre ... after all the delegates should be at work and the docs at their conference! June is a busy month for tourism - the schools finish at the end of it and if Pentecost falls in June there are also plenty of long weekend visitors.
Book your accommodation now and rest easy. Plenty of space and loads to see and do.

Bump -- I'll be in Strasbourg next weekend to see an opera, with almost an extra day for visiting. Looking for a charming and comfortable budget hotel (well under 100€/nt) and nicely done local food. Any traditional food specialties this time of year?

Plug in your date and choose the hotel.
As far as food at this time of the yr, I will leave that to other posters.

If you are still around, do go to a local patisserie and see if they are selling 'LAMMALA's for Easter (my local baker is doing so already). This is a sponge cake in the form of a Pascal lamb that is sold around Easter, and will keep well in a well-closed plastic bag. Also 'friture' which is chocolate fish and shells (shellfish) linked with 1 April ... Poisson d'Avril as we call April Fool's Day here. And of course all those sinful choco Easter eggs!!
