Purchase Coffee Maker in Paris

I will be in Paris for vacation and would like to purchase a coffee maker; I like a regular drip coffee in the morning and the apartment I am renting does not have one; In the US a 220 volt small coffee maker runs $50 (when shipping, handling and taxes are included) and I have to carry it.
Where can I purchase a coffee maker in Paris; I will be staying in the 6th arr. I tried to look at Carrefour website but it seems like they do not sell home appliances. Any Walmarts around Paris?????

Does it need to be an electric machine? You can pick up a Melitta type plastic cone shaped thing that holds a standard size filter. Sits right on your mug, just put your ground coffee in & pour the hot water over it. They come in single serving and larger sizes. I picked one up at Monoprix. If you do want an electric device, I'd look at BHV.

See also Buying a Mr. Coffee in Paris.

No, we don't have Walmart. Try Darty, BHV, or Monoprix. Carrefour does sell them in their stores, as does Geant Casino, but if you're staying in the 6th those are probably a bit far away for you.

thank you all;
I do not like the cone shaped plastic gadget;
I prefer to make a pot and drink 2-3 cups in the morning.
I also carry my own coffee.
Darty sounds like the place to go. they have one place in O'deon which is in the border of 5th and 6th arr.

Is that the Irish section of the city?

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I was at Darty this weekend looking at coffee makers. They have a wide enough selection to have it work for you. You can get a cheap Molinex for 20-40 Euros and it will probably last through your vacation.

I noticed though that most of the quality brands (Krups, Cuisinart) only had very large 12 cup machines, which are really too big for many Paris apartments. I'll be heading down to BVH which I know has a wider choice.

coffee maker for rental apartment

Are you sure the apartment you will be staying in for your vacation does not have a coffee maker? Most places in France would have one, but if it doesn't, then why not try and ask the owner to add one, he may find it a good thing to have one for all his future tenants. I'd try and ask if I were you. I had an apartment owner add a kettle for me in a vacation rental once and he was very happy to get it for me and then to have it there for his other guests. In any case, yes it will be easy to find and all Carrefour stores do have home equipment. Coffee makers are easy to find. Darty should definitely have a good choice, too.

Names with an initial O followed by an apostrophe are typically Irish: O'Neill, O'Reilly and so on.

The section of Paris between Jardin du Luxembourg and the Seine is not spelled that way. If the apostrophe was used instead of an accented letter (it's properly Odéon, with an accent aigu on the "e") it's in the wrong place.

got it.
I do love Ireland and maybe that is why I wrote O'deon.
the brain cells were not making a good connection.

Maybe that's the excellent occasion to be a true Parisian and have un petit noir at the café

Plenty of choice in the 6th arrondissement...

Le Bar du Marché, if you like it trendy
Le Bar de la Mairie, if you like it Deneuve
Le Bar du Lutetia if you like it elegant
Le Café de Flore if you like it littéraire
Emporio Caffé if you like it Italian
Starbuck Odéon if you like it with no inspiration
