Ticket type, fare class and codeshare

I figured to make a new thread completely, as there were many other to put under.

So the problem i have is business class seats on AA, with AY#.

I have Business classic TLL-HEL-LAX and back LAX-MIA-HEL-TLL as the return date doesn't have a flight from LAX.
The LAX-MIA is obviously codeshare on AA. AY says there is no business class available on this flight. Which is bulls*it as its 77W with first, business, premium economy and economy.
I am seated in PE by AY, because (see picture below):

I asked CS to manually out me into business class, because i bought a business class ticket. Answer was no, you fare in I class, which is not available on this flight.
This again comes back to the ticket types of AY. Even if i book business flex for the same flights, fare is in I, because "you are always put into the cheapest bucket" as most of you here know. So even with business flex, that costs about 1500 more than classic, you are still stuck with PE seat.
Funnily enough, CS offered me to to change my fare class to J/C/D for a measly 1500...
Also some other dates, I class is available on the same flight, and same business classic ticket seats you in business class.

In my opinion i should have business class seat on the flight, since i bought a business class ticket. In my opinion even with business light, you should be there.
This just opens doors to even more "pay more, get less" schemes.

Should i try to contact maybe Kuluttajaneuvonta or something, since AY stand is firm on this, there is no business class available.

While booking, couldnt you see at that point, that the lax-mia sector falls into PE? It should be visible in the itinenary while booking?

Yes it says that there is no business class available on the flight.
But when there is business class actually available, i would think it books there, regardless of fare code. With this system, you first have to look up expertflyer or something to see if there is availability in the fare AY books you into (because this varies by availability in buckets, not by booking flex or classic).
Also i (or anyone else) would feel cheated if you buy a business class ticket, for business class price and get seated in economy when business class is available and has seats free.
Few days different, same exact flights and AY books into I. AA has availability in I, you get business class seat and price is exactly the same what you pay to AY.
Just doesn't make sense to me.
And this is also same on flights LAX-ORD/JFK, just random what you get.

A friend of mine is flying HEL-NRT-xxx soon. HEL-NRT is operated by AY, and NRT-xxx by non-oneworld members. Under AY code for the AY op flight the only option was Eco seat on NRT-xxx. Booking using JAL, the whole trip will be in C cabin.

Finnair wasnt able to sell a ticket where the longer flights are operated by them. No double points, not even 150-250%..

If during booking AY shows no cabin class but just some weird wordings then it is very misleading marketing.
At least on staralliance side, often similar bookings end up in economy on intra-US legs, but at least the bookings I have seen always tell the cabin class so you cannot complain not seeing what you book even if it is very beggarstyle to generate such bookings.

And, very often, if rerouted due to irrops, a LAX-EU direct flight in J ends up rerouted by LAX-JFK/xxx-EU by the local airline in economy for the US sector. Which is bad.

Re codeshate - I just noticed that AY has codeshare agreement with JU, so one can earn AY points on BEG-HEL flights. Just look carefully, because AY sells the tix both with JU/AY and with AY/AY flight numbers. Somewhat surprisingly AY/AY is cheaper than JU/AY flight numbers. This gives a great many options via FCO/VIE/WAW/etc. ^

It is not that surprising. AY/AY-JU/JU is an interline ticket, which can most certainly not book into the cheapest fare buckets. Before the last ticket type rebranding, that sort of ticket would book into Value at minimum.

AY/AY-AY/JU is an normal AY ticket, so while you obviously won't find sales on that route, you might have more/cheaper choices of fares. Of course, the issuer will be 105 either way.
