Changing options on through ticket leg?

I have an up coming route in early Sept that is a through ticket. It is BUD- HEL-BKK-HKG-BKK-HEL-BUD. It allows around 30 hours in HKG. With recent events in HKG and if the situation deteriotes, are AY likely to contact me or should I consider my options (if there is any) in dropping the BKK-HKG legs? They are CX operated under AY flight number (codeshare) . All ticketed via AY, one booking ref. Any experiences of changing it dropping a leg on a through ticket?

If there's a waiver, they'll certainly allow you to reroute - closer to departure date.

Earlier than that, unless you have fully flexible ticket, it will be possible but it will cost you dearly.

AY would not allow changing a XXX-HKG-HEL ticket to XXX-BKK-HEL last week (OWE and J). I asked on Monday and the flights were on Thursday - they only had a waiver in force until Wednesday due to the HKG airport closure, and would not make an exception. In the end everything went well, though, as the airport was open on Thursday.

Thanks. Not sure how other European operators have been dealing with customers not wanting to utilise HK as part of their travel plans at the moment. Shall continue monitor.
