Crystal ball needed. Cancel right away or wait for upgrades to clear? 8:45 flight time with forced night in HEL awaits me. (CS told me AY is providing hotel)
8:45 in biz for a voucher is pretty good value if cleared. IF not a nightmare.
Waiting for non-cleared is also a waste since ms. got her vacation fixed for these dates and we must fly somewhere. 😌

AY is, perhaps understandably, pretty stingy on upgrades on this route. If flying Y is not an option, I would cancel now and find another destination.
Today’s AY1961 arrived 70 min behind schedule. AY1962 is expected to arrive three hours behind schedule.

It would make sense to cancel.
Talked to CS and there was 10-ish unsold J-seats left with 2 months to go.
On top of thar I have used two upgrade vouchers that has expired. I hate waste of vouchers 😭.
New arrival time for AY1962 is 01:55 in mmb. So pretty much 3 hours is the new normal.

The revised schedule from February onwards feels rather lax, actually. You'd expect the to be back at 01:30 the latest.

With much longer travel times I hope they will improve the J-cabin service as well as I understand they have done for Y already.

Then again, 3 rotations a week are not that much in the grand scheme of the entire Finnair flight schedule. Also a lot of passengers on the affected route are probably chartered. I don't even know how responsibility works in that case between the airline, the travel agent and the passenger?

31JAN still showing A350. Anticipating equipment change, I moved from 8L to 8A, as there were no front cabin L seats or 2A/4A/6A available. I guess I'll survive

I wonder if he's due EC261. AY cancelled less than 14 days in advance (?). A delay is of course not due EC261, but here AY chose not to fly at all, which is a commercial decision.

If he's in J and doesn't care about the longer flight time, then that's not exactly a bad deal. Full J on BA.

Also he is traveling on Feb 6, so no EC261.
