Ok, in the end HEL-LAX was way better than JFK-HEL 
Good plane, very nice and attentive cabin crew, the food wasn't bad, and there was also a good movie selection on the IFE. Husband and kids were happy too.
I could surely book it again without a second thought.

And you are in the air long enough to enjoy the meals, service & entertainment while also getting sleep which the JFK flight doesn't for most people.
