Still, there are quite a few 5th freedom flights in SE-A, I even flew LH (KUL-BKK??) and it's a fun a cheap way to fly airlines I'd never fly otherwise (e.g KQ, UL on the BKK-CAN route) I also flew TK and RJ in SE-A (even CX has a 5th freedom BKK-SIN route) Sure, these are not Europeans, but the calculation is more or less the same.
5th freedom in C are often cheaper than the local ones, too.

No doubt there are a number of airlines doing the BKK-HKG and other asian routes using 5th freedom, but the economics of those are certainly not very interesting, especially if you have high labour costs and very very low yields.

Just an observation. I flew HKG-BKK on RJ (for that exact reason Wilco said - a great route to try out new airlines). The route is an "add-on" to the BKK-AMM, so the HKG-AMM is a direct, one-stop flight.
I assume that they could have just added codeshares on one of the many CX flights from HKG, so there must be money enough in it do fly it yourself.

But my (somehow educated) guess is that yield-wise, KUL is much weaker. First you need to fight with Air Asia/Air Asia X. Then there is MH, that is very competitive. On top of this the high-yield passenger base is smaller as KUL is simply a smaller business/corporate hub than SIN.

Valtteri Bottas just entered the Schengen lounge, escorted by a Finavia rep. What type of service is that, and why would a fit, young adult with a lot of travel experience need that?

If I understand right the VIP lounges are located before security at HEL, making it more convinient with someone escorting him through check in/security and in to the ordinary lounge.

According to map, south part of that area is "Congress conference", the north end is "VIP lounge"

Yup, and then they link to the map and location as above. Perhaps they allow entrance from the dirty side and exit to the clean side without passing security. That would be the true VIP perk...

Usually this perk is regulated by the law to heads of state and etc... maybe F1 drivers are an exception in Finland though.
