On ARN flights, a cold sandwich with beverages is served. On all other SH flights, the service includes "a hot main meal, something sweet and beverages".
Beverages include sparkling wine (Bernard-Massard Cuvée de l'Ecusson), white wine, red wine, beer, cognac, whiskey, vodka, cream liquor and soft drinks.
Iberia-operated MAD and BCN flights have Iberia service with starter, hot meal and proper dessert. On these flights, a different set of beverages is served (IB selection).

The HEL-DXB upgrade with points must be one of the sweet spots of the whole Finnair Plus program! Cheapest return Y class fares are under 300€ and you can upgrade for 10 000 points per direction. ^
Compare that with for example flights to PEK or DEL which are not much longer but one rarely pays less than 500€ in Y and upgrades are 50 000 points.

I would appreciate a "mid-haul" concept with 5000 points base earnings in Y and 60k award in Y, without fuel surcharges. Inflight service concept could be Euro-buy-on-board in Y, but J should be better than shorthaul J (and this actually seems to be the case since you got a roll (tomato & mozzarella?) for breakfast and then later a full lunch, albeit on one tray, but with more options and a menu included).

I have to admit that your post triggered me to book a 50k weekend trip to DXB. It’s currently waitlisted so let’s see if I have any luck or if I have to spend next weekend at home. I’ve been to Dubai once, 20 years ago. Must be a very different city today.

HEL-DXB upgrade was confirmed immediately and DXB-HEL more seats available but went on list.
Never trust on seat maps.
