The fun part is that having 2 LHR - HEL rt tickets in J and 1 HEL - LHR in Y costs also around 1200€. That gives more flights and more points.

I currently tend to join the show, but I want to have first a roadmap for Gold.

Anyway, I could join the CX lounge party on jan 14 but there are no sensible redemptions and paying rev ticket when I don't need the miles seems silly (even though it is only in the 100€ range).

Fundamentally inclined to take an utmost possibility to enjoy this excursion to all secrets and mysteries of LHR T3 and have 2 EU upgrades turning sour soon, but some blokes already booked all seats in F bucket for those flights...
On the other hand, planning a vacation (again) to ZA for January and perhaps I am better off not to take a risk of overlapping trips at his stage and wait for (predicted) QR sales next week.

From a few samples of asian sites that has launched prices already, it seems J fares are not exceptional but Y fares are.

Right, we start next week earlier than you down there
No Y fares for me for anything over 5-6 hours, too old and self-indulgent for that. I have travelled on economy seats n*n times around the globe in the years past.

I'll join the 14 Jan LHR gig for the return: happened to have a HEL-ARN for that date as the last segment of a LH ticket so I'll fly back home via LHR then. I'm happy to join OH-LGG in 58Å if they don't release more F.

I'll probably get my black card only in March or so, so if someone would be willing to guest a lowly gold in, it'd be much appreciated.

We are planning to visit the Premium Lounge at HEL for breakfast, sauna and lunch before the flight to LHR so it is at least 6h in lounges

Insane would be to fly HEL-HKG-LHR, which can be had for 8000€ in Y and slightly below 20000€ in D.


For a HEL based flyer, and if you don't plan on using (hoping for) AY+ upgrade, then flying BA is a cheaper option. Currently 95€

Another option is to redeem award flights - there is availability both ways in J, but you need to book 2 one ways due to limitations in AY+ program.

150 EUR for a day of flying and lounging seems like a bargain to me!

Will have to look again closer to the date as I know more about my work schedule.
