T3 (Plat) for MANY years. 99% sure I renewed this year based on stays. I always make sure I hit it.
Then I received this:
Welcome to another great year of Platinum Status in Fairmont President's Club. Last year we made you a promise to extend your status for an additional year, and it's our pleasure to deliver on that for 2015. All the privileges and rewards that come with Platinum are yours to enjoy. We can't wait to see you soon.
Um - what is that about???

I recently got an email from them with the same wording too, with the only difference being that I didn't stay a single night with Fairmont in 2014, after getting Premier status in 2013 (migrated to SPG).
I guess they're so desperate for members that they're willing to renew existing ones for nothing.

I did not stay with Fairmont in 2014 and was downgraded from Platinum to Club... No luck for me.
(well, I will qualify again after my next stay thanks to SE fast track so I cannot complain)

I definitely prequalified. And I don't ever recall seeing an email that contained a "promise"... weird.

Likewise, I appear to be renewed without any stay activity for 2014.
All my stays went to SPG and Hyatt.

Weird, got one of these emails too.
Definitely didn't receive anything in the fall about a "promise".
Was 2 stays short of requalifying. Wonder if they're targeting certain members?

I was once 1 stay short and called Moncton. They upped me based on my history. We've had so many amazing CP/Fairmont memories, it is one of those things I try to keep up. Since then, I make sure I hit it every year. Tough now that we have moved...
So, this year I did hit it. And still the weird email.
Almost wanna call!

This may relate to early 2014 qualification. I found a February, 2014 email that mentioned:
"Welcome to Fairmont President's Club Platinum! As a thank you for qualifying early for the 2014 membership year, we are pleased to provide you with Platinum status for the remainder of the current membership year as well as next year. "

I don't think I qualified early though....
