The Gift of Travel Gives Back at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

http://www.marketwire.com/press-rele...ts-1346397.htm

As the end of the year approaches, it's time to start planning for holiday gifts that will make friends and family members smile. With studies showing that experiences have a greater impact on happiness than material goods, more people are buying the cards and realizing that the gift of travel is more rewarding than the gift of a new scarf or sweater. With Fairmont, travelers can give Fairmont Gift Cards that offer flexible benefits redeemable for spa, dining and hotel stays - letting recipients choose the experience they desire most.

In addition, for every gift card sold this holiday season, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts will donate USD $5* to Mission Blue - an action-oriented marine conservation initiative of the National Geographic Society (NGS). The aim of the campaign is to increase global awareness of the urgent ocean crisis, and help to reverse the decline in ocean health. The initiative plans to achieve these goals by inspiring people to care and act, while also promoting the creation of marine protected areas (MPAs). Fairmont's donation will help to offset costs for expeditions that NGS will conduct in an effort to expand the understanding of biologically rich and important marine places. More information is available at www.iamtheocean.org.

With a long commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible tourism, Fairmont is a sponsor of the National Geographic Mission Programs as well a member of the WWF global Climate Savers program. The brand also offers the Global Explorer Series that gives guests unique opportunities to engage with National Geographic experts in a range of activities. For the past two decades, Fairmont has upheld its pledge to preserve the places in which we live, work and play with the brand's pioneering The Green Partnership program.

Available in any denomination ranging from $50 USD to $5,000 USD, gift cards can be used for fine dining, luxurious treatments at Fairmont and Willow Stream Spas and, of course, accommodations at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts worldwide. With this option, loved ones can choose to hit a round of golf at Fairmont Scottsdale or indulge in a deep tissue massage at Fairmont Monte Carlo. No matter what they pick, it is a gift that is sure to create an unforgettable moment.

To learn more and purchase Fairmont gift cards, guests can visit www.fairmontgiftcard.com or visit any Fairmont hotel worldwide.

*To a maximum of $75,000 USD

When I first read the thread title (just getting up after only getting a few hours of sleep), I thought "Great! Fairmont is offering a promo to buy giftcards at a discount." or something similar and was getting all excited, then I opened the thread and....

Anyhow, its still good to see Fairmont is trying to contribute to a good cause. ^ (and Im usually not a huge fan of this "going/being/feeling green" phenomenon)
