It really is sad that clueless blogs like DP are "featured" while other bloggers don't get the same billing. For a while there even FM was trumped.

You guys should vote with your eyes and mind and just stop reading... I gave up on BA long ago and now sub to a very small number of their blogs through feedly. And I am surprised that some - contributing here ;) - continue to post there. I don't think I'd want to be associated with most of the other bloggers there.

Excuse me, this may be a dumb question that may have been answered earlier or elsewhere. What does it take to be in the "featured blogger" area of BA? Obviously, moderation practices is not one of the criteria :D
By the way, I had a fantastic time at the buffet line this morning at the Hyatt property in Thessaloniki, Greece. I think I am all set for food for the rest of the day! |

I've noticed I am getting a "Your comment is awaiting moderation" now when I comment on BoardingArea. Nothing in my comments that would warrant holding back a post for moderation (such as a link). Spillover effect from being censored by other blogs on BA?

This is on both Ben and Gary's blogs. I am pretty sure neither hold back comments for moderation.

These are the general options available within wordpress:

There are other plug-ins which can blacklist IP addresses or usernames but, IME, those don't show the user that it is held for moderation; they just get dropped. It is also possible that some combination of the words used tripped up the anti-spam filter. I found one of those today in my queue and I have no idea what made that trigger but it did. Not all the bloggers bother examining the spam queue very closely as, depending on the blog, it can be hundreds to thousands of messages daily. |
I don't examine my spam queue at all - better things to do than trawl through 300 viagra plugs each day looking for a comment by someone who for some reason used the word viagra in a genuine comment .....!

Delta Points has got to be the worse when it comes to censoring.
I commented on the Sunday fireside chats which appear to be copied from MMS interview series and got Censored!!! I merely stated that MMS had interviewed most of the bloggers already so there was no need to repeat the process |

I read elsewhere that the Ken comments were particularly vicious, not sure this is the kind of censoring us freedom of speech libs care about.
That said I censor VFTW, stopped reading that Chase advertising drivel a long time ago. |
I wonder what Ken's comment was - anybody happen to catch it? If he is just spouting off vicious stuff or some sort of personal attacks, I wouldn't blame a blog for trying to block him. That's a little different from censoring normal, civil comments that point out contrary information, better links, etc.

Based on HikerT's transcripts, I understand why Gary censors it...but that's still censorship. It's not spam or profane. It's 'just' rude and mean. In a truly free marketplace of ideas Ken's posts would be free to be made...and judged as mostly meritless. |
