Thanks for your latest comments and opinions. I'd reply but sense George may be signaling a truce and I want to respect that if that is indeed his wishes.

I love you too buddy. We go back a lot of years.

You have 3 large links to your books on the left side, which you sell, so you make money. Therefore your site is monetized (not saying that is a bad thing at all). And there are some kind souls out there who help out perfect strangers with their blogs... glad you got the image on the right sorted!

I don't understand people who go into business as a blogger, which by its nature involves putting thoughts out there for people to publicly comment on. Then get miffed when there are negative comments, or when people discuss better deals/offers than what they have available.

A business that sometimes has to say, look, I just can't beat the other guy's deal on this one, will cause me to go back to them in the future and give them a chance again. And in fact I've done that on occasion with brick & mortar establishments. I appreciate being respected as a customer. But a business that pretends they have the best deal when we can all see it's not the case, I likely won't return to.

If a blogger wants to prove critics wrong, my free advice is to show it by actions and how you run your business. Not by following around critics and hassling them personally - name calling and such. That, I can't respect. Just my two cents.

I hear what you're saying and agree that a blogger shouldn't lie. But the thing is, the blog is supposed to be and to be perceived more than just just a collection of deals. A follower who doesn't want anything else from the blog but the deals, is bound to be frustrated after reading the third or even the second top blog from their niche.

Another problem is that some readers expect every blog to be something for everyone, which is not humanly possible in the first place. It really cracks me up when some folks who have been hobbying for 10 years now demand new content to keep them entertained and educated. Trying to keep happy those who know it all is a losing proposition any which way you look at it.

Oh, those... Yeah, I guess. And of course, you're right. There are kind souls who help out and I'm thankful for it, too. Cheers:D

All very true! Of course some blogs are very light on content but heavy on deal pimping. I do follow blogs that offer deals or links, but the ones I read only include those things as a small part of much greater content.

I think the wiki is being updated more often in here guys :D

Seeing TBB under the "censoring blogs" is, well, entertaining!

In all seriousness, who gives a s**t what the wiki here says? Is this thread... is this entire FORUM.. of any relevance whatsoever?

Nope, that would be TBB

If FT hadn't shut down the blogger-basher threads your comment could have been true rather than tongue in cheek. In retrospect it would have been better to give that thread a 18 rating and just remove all moderation. It would have been the most fun thread on all of FT! Alas....

To all: I just posted on TBB "Blog Buzz Section to Evolve"

As a friend on twitter said "It is an end of an era" :D

Deep down, I love everyone. Even those who will appear on my "Blogs I Ignore" list.

itsaboutthejourney Dec 17, 2013 9:12 pm

Mods: can we lock DeltaPoints into the censor section? Seems like the owner or someone backing them is on a campaign to keep changing this wiki back. argh.

I can assure from experience as well as others in the DL world that DeltaPoints blog does indeed censor comments challenging the factual accuracy of their posts.

May never have stopped, but at least some of the biggest pimp's feet were put to the fire - and they squawked like old hens! Now, they are contentedly resting in their coops, spitting out pimp job after pimp job like the good ol' days.

You had a great niche and got a lot of viewers/comments. But now it's tame/boring stuff. Chewing gum for the masses. But I guess that's what affiliate companies want? Pretty soon you'll start posting trip reports. Oh, forgot, that's already started:rolleyes:

Interesting that a third of the edits came from DP.

I guess it makes sense though, given the blog

The owner even states upthread that they "proudly censor"

You can see the edits (just click on the date to see the edited post). To be fair, DP did not remove his blog from the censor list, he added it to the "does not censor" list (using some mental gymnastics to justify).

I absolutely abhor censorship... indeed I think FT itself does itself a huge, huge dis-service with it's over the top moderation. But this kind of statement is just way over the top, and I'd suggest you retract. Let's put what we are discussing here into perspective please. I don't like DP's blog, I can't stand his lying about censorship being done to protect readers when in fact it's being done to protect his income, but it's not rape.

Er, never said it was "rape" or even equating the two. Just saying that it's just another outrageous behavior. And if it's too non-PC for some, tough. If FT doesn't like it, then censor me:rolleyes:

Like I say, speak your mind. I just don't care too much for your distasteful metaphors, and subsequent defending your position. And yes, you did exactly equate the two: "Proudly censoring is like happily raping..." Maybe you don't understand your own words or something

LOL mental gymnastics is a great term!

Heh, I owe that part of my vocabulary to a commenter on MileValue (speaking of another "worst practice" blog, not that anyone comes close to DP. :D)

Ladies & Gentlemen, Dear Kids,
thank you for putting me in a dilemma... how to moderate a thread about censoring. The mod post zapping laser did come out the moment 'non-PC' language was used. But I have refrained from deleting anything (so far) because I think your post content speak more about your character than anything else.

As far as the back and forth editing of the wiki goes, its rather amusing. I could lock the wiki and accept edit requests, but certainly there are better uses of everyone's energy?

Happy Holidays and regards

This entire post is fear-mongering FUD.

There is absolutely no evidence that any of these fares were "unpublished." Rather there is plenty of evidence that the fares were published, mostly in that they were visible in public GDS systems and bookable across multiple OTAs.

You can believe the rants or pay attention to reality. I strongly recommend the latter, and you're not going to find that here.
The comment was never approved. A similar comment from gleff was approved.

And, according to a follow-up email, apparently he's been blocking me for a while now. I rarely care as I don't often follow-up on the comments once I point out that the post is, essentially, based on bad info. And clearly I hadn't noticed until now.

For awhile last night, that DP post was in the large top-left "frame" of the BA main page. Are the posts for that spot rotated randomly or based on something (amt of clicks?). BA should be embarrassed, that post was one of the more far-out, patently incorrect I've seen on there lately.

well kudos at least trying to correct the mis-information.

clearly the blog doesn't really care though if the readers get the correct information or not, just as long as there's a CC link at the end of the post

That spot is "held" by the most recent post written by one of the "featured bloggers" group. The three below it are the next three from that group, also chronologically. The two columns below that are filled in chronological order by all bloggers, not just the "featured" group.

The current pool of featured bloggers is:
