BR: fares are lower this holiday season

I've been planning my family's annual SE Asia trip, which involves leaving some time in December and returning some time in January. The route is SEA-BKK and (unless there are severe extenuating circumstances) is flown on my favorite airline, BR.

Fares seem lower this year. Ended up buying Z class PL tickets for ~$2900 AI round trip... and this is for travel on the absolute peak of the peak days in mid-December and early January. I don't recall PL fares this low for that specific period for the past couple of years.

Booking class Z earns very slightly less mileage than C or J, and has a stiff refund penalty -- but no fee for change of dates. That's perfect for us and an excellent trade-off and value. EVA's web site also has Elite fares in Q for around $1500 for similar days.

Things seem to have come back down to earth; can't wait until December. Now if they could just make sure we don't have a crippling storm in SEA on my day of departure like last year, I'd sure appreciate it .

They've also been doing some excellent value economy deals out of both TPE and LHR for BR67/BR68.

Despite this, LHR check-in looked painfully quiet Thursday night as I passed by. No problem accommodating a cash-paying PAX who turned up about an hour before departure.
