EVA Air drops LAX - Osaka for good
EVA Air starting 16JUN09 is cancelling 3 weekly 777-300ER Taipei - Osaka - Los Angeles service.
Originally service was intended to resume from 25OCT09 and tickets were on sale beyond that date, but as per 15JUN09 GDS timetable display, it's GONE. Even 2010 Summer default schedule didn't see this route aas well.
DATA AS OF 15JUN09

Thanks... seems like a big change!
I noticed recently that a LHR-TPE booking for early July changed from 747 to 777.
Are they shifting metal to mainland China routes?

SEA looks like is switching to 74W from 15SEP09 too.

Interesting. The switch from 77W to 74W on the SEA route must be fairly recent. When I checked this weekend, December flights were still operated by the 77W.

If you're searching the flight based on timetable display, it shows 77W. But EVA's inventory system is showing 74W (or "404" when access through Sabre). Just did a dummy booking on their site it is also showing 74W

Kayak is listing tickets for the route, which I found interesting. I sincerely hope they don't get rid of it, it's my go-home flight...and it has always been at least mostly full. I'm not going to panic yet.

LAX - KIX was still loaded in the airlines' inventory system until last week. It might make a come back from April 2010 but who knows.

It shows up in March of 2010 for around $1k...which is good because that is when my parents are coming to visit.

I would not be surpised if this route disappears. The one LAX-KIX-TPE flight that I took was not even half full. I flew on JL a couple of times LAX-KIX as well, and they always had a diffcult time filling the planes.

About SEA: they also added another weekly SEA-TPE flight starting in August.
Is SEA doing so well for them that they would shift planes and capacity to that route? Or is something else going on?

Ever since CI left the market, BR has been performing well in Seattle. They probably did not want to up the frequencies on the route due to lack of planes, so they upped the capacities instead.
