New Seat Selection Policies:
  • Cabin is split into three areas for Economy Class; the entire PE cabin is considered Preferred Seating; the entire Business Class cabin is standard

      • Free for IML Diamond/Gold Regardless of Fare Bucket
      • $45 for shorthaul; $150 for Longhaul
    • Preferred Seating (Preferred Seating Section at Front of Y cabin and Entire Premium Economy)
      • Free for IML Diamond/Gold Regardless of Fare Bucket
      • Free for Standard (PE ONLY) and Plus Ticket Passengers
      • Premium Economy: $40 for Longhaul; $15 for shorthaul
      • Economy: $50 for longhaul; $20 for shorthaul
    • Standard Seating (Economy Class Only)
      • Free for IML Diamond/Gold/Silver Regardless of Fare Bucket
      • Free for all passengers except the Basic and Discount Ticket Passengers

  • All tickets in Business Class will continue to enjoy free seat selection
  • All bassinet seats will continue to be blocked and assigned at no charge to those with bassinets. Seating will be made available to IML passengers if unassigned.

  • Changes to chargeable seat selection can be made to the same or lower category only. Chargeable seat selections may not be transferred to someone else.
  • All chargeable seats are non-refundable. Changes that result in a lower price will not be refunded the difference. Changes in your itinerary does not guarantee availability of your selected chargeable seat. If unavailable, a refund will not be given.

Fare Family is now online and reflected on all GDS platforms! A historical change for BR as they take on new endeavors with these families!

I've added the new fees onto the Wiki.

I’m pretty confused about the seat selection criteria. I can’t see the seat map on the app anymore, and I can’t select different seats on the webpage. Is it because I bought T class tickets? I thought CDs should still be able to choose seats.

Class T = Premium Economy Elite Saver

Seat selection will be available after check-in within 48 hrs of the flight departure.

CD gets access to all seats for free, regardless of your booking class. It sounds like either there’s a glitch for all available seats have been selected. I would definitely call in and ask.

With the new WIFi system, in MMB the option to purchase WIFI is disabled and I understand you now have to purchase on board.If you are eligible for free wifi,it says after some digging around, you have to register 48 to 3 hrs before your flight, however in MMB there is nothing apart from the disabled section.Will this change 48 hrs before my flight or do I have to look elsewhere.?(I am eligible for the free wifi allowance as I am in RL).

BR management is apparently considering to change some seating policies as FF have been quite unhappy with the the lack of blocked seats only available to them. Currently, all seats, except bassinets, are open to selection according to your ticket/status though that may be changing soon.

One of their top corporate customers has complained about employees lack of access to row 20 in PE and the lack of reserved seating for FF so their employees don't have to sit in the middle in PE.

All though this does not affect myself, I still think it's a good idea and it comes at no cost to BR.

Row 20 seats were available for me last week but not the WIndow/Aisle seats. Only the 4 middle seats were selectable. I still had to request 20A during checkin,

Because it is open for selection, the non-FFs may pick it up. It used to be that the whole row 20 was blocked, assigned at the airport. Nowadays, only the bassinets can be taken if there is no baby and the corporate customer is not happy.

Long haul: USD 200
Short haul: USD 60

1. Anyone can purchase these seats regardless where the booking is from as long as it's a BR/B7 metal.
2. IML Diamond and Gold are not exempt from these charges.
3. Non-refundable after purchase.
4. Person seating in these seats must be 16 years and older.
5. Person needing additional assistance are not allowed to purchase.
6. EVA and UNI reserves the rights for final decision on seat selections.

I think you meant seats are still free if it's allocated to them prior to boarding, which has nothing to do with in-flight.
