Looks like they are
1. Forcing FF to book top fare buckets for better upgrade rates and mileage earning rates.
2. China market is clearly floundering; might as well encourage redemption there!
3. Rewarding their FF that fly J/C on a normal basis while devaluing the earning for the cheap Business saver (same as PE K!)
4. Further segregating the PE fare bucket system to increase earnings.
5. Encouraging FF to book Y/B in Cattle or move up to PE/J.

Personally, I love these changes since I now earn more with my tickets!

I love the reduced redemption rate. Our economy tickets are always in Y or B as they are part of a larger Premium Economy itinerary. When exactly does this start? I have a flight to upgrade on 22 March and would love to access the new rate.

It's suspected to change from March 5.

Additional changes include ticketing fees, free wifi for Royal Laurel (based on ticketing class), new booking code that has restricted baggage allowance or no refunds.

Any idea what the new ticketing fees are?

Happy to see this. Will be flying EVA a few times this year. Hopefully it'd apply to I class.

Funny statement. I class is the one class it most definitely will not be featured on. Why would free wifi be given to an award ticket?

Appears to be no show fee of $100 must be paid for no shows before any changes can be made to the no show ticket.

I dunno, ask ANA and JAL why they give free wifi to first class awards. SQ as well in J/F, although the J allowance is a pittance. In fact, are there any airlines that do segment free WiFi on that basis? I would argue that restricting features after someone has flown with you a ton to build up a bunch of miles and finally got to redeem them isn't great for building continued loyalty.

Of course, if it's not included I'd just pay the $20 anyway and they probably know this.

I've never gotten free Wi-Fi on any of my numerous paid BR flights in Royal Laurel (D and J fare basis). So if they give it, it's *only* to C fares.

Actually I find that kinda chintzy. For example Aer Lingus had Wi-Fi included when I flew biz SEA-DUB on a discounted ticket.

I hope not. Not looking for more competition for the already spotty wifi.

Is the wifi that bad? Have been on CI and JL the past and they are both okay. Maybe it's the route taken?

I've only had 1 flight where it's unusable, but it tends to be quite slow on half the flights I've taken (usually yyz-tpe), at least for me. Even loading mostly text websites take a while.

I like the basic, plus, and standard fares. Reward those who give you worthy business while maintaining a profitable environment on tickets not generating much.
Surprising change is Green to Silver is now 4 flights and 30k miles!
