Options to Change Flight
I am taking 5 friends on their first trip to SE Asia next week. We were all supposed to be booked on BR 55 ORD - TPE and then BR 211 from TPE to BKK. However, today, i found out that one of my friends booked the wrong flight to BKK and is on BR 205, which means he has a 15 hour layover at TPE and will miss our whole first day in Bangkok. We have a very busy second day so i'm concerned he is going to be exhausted if he can't get the flight changed.
It was a Saver Economy fare so it looks like he will have to pay a $100 change fee and the price difference to get it changed, are there any other fees that I don't know about?
BR 211 is currently, full in economy, but has premium economy open, has anyone been able to change to a premium economy seat if you were willing to pay the far difference?
If he doesn't want to pay the far difference and the change fee, does Eva allow someone to Standby for earlier flights? I know that is a unlikely since it's currently full, but it might be the only real viable option.
Thank you for your time, i did do a search, but couldn't find what i was looking for,

Most likely change fee + fare diff..... Had this been within 24 hours of ticketing you might have better luck
IME their ground and reservations staff have been difficult to work with, when compared to north american airlines.

Hi, give this link a go https://booking.evaair.com/flyeva/ev...ifyflight.aspx you should be able to modify the booking online. It's a bit of a flakey system, but should still work.

EVA is very picky with the first flight. My dad ended up cancelling his ticket(for a 3 days later) after my grandma passed away, and rebooked his flight. We had someone on the inside that knew the entire process and said this was the best way.
EVA however doesnt really care much about the return flight. My mom who frequently flies back always changes her flight back. I think it requires a few $$ now, but again when my grandma passed away, we had to push our flights back by 2 weeks. They told us no charge.
