Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I've abused the search function and can't seem to find an answer.

I'm looking to book a KIX-TPE-SFO award in business.

When I search for the KIX-TPE segment, it's waitlist-only. When I search for the TPE-SFO segment, it's available.

When I search for the two segments together, the booking engine (when I get to the "confirm" page shows both segments as waitlist.

Is it possible to confirm one segment and waitlist the other, or is this not how things work on BR?

Thanks in advance.

From my limited experience, it is the married segment thing. The availability differs if you have the full itinerary vs the partial one. For example, I was looking at YYZ - TPE - SIN. The whole itinerary was not available, but if I book them individually, both segments are available, but at a higher mileage cost (80k vs 80k+25k).

Ah I see, thanks. I'm just waiting on a mileage transfer, but once it hits, I'll give them a call.

I wonder if a phone agent has the ability to manually override the married segment issue (and waitlisting a single segment while confirming the other).

Otherwise, looks like I'll be stuck paying an extra 25k miles, so fingers crossed!

Good luck trying to get them to override the system so you don't have to spend an extra 25k!

Thanks. I know it was a long shot, but I also think that in these cases, it's always worth asking for what you want. The worst they can do is say no

I gave the NY office a call when they opened this morning, and they were able to help.

They confirmed the TPE-SFO segment, and let me waitlist the KIX-TPE segment on the same booking (for a total of 75K miles).

Now, fingers crossed to clear!

Updating to add a data point to this thread: the KIX-TPE segment (for now, on a Hello Kitty A321!) cleared the waitlist this morning after just 3 days.

The flight is not until late December and I have no status with Eva, so I was surprised to see this, given what I've read elsewhere about someone in my position not having much of a shot until the travel date got close.

Wow man lucky you! I was on the same boat as you, waiting for an upgrade to RL to be confirmed from a wait-list, which is scheduled early January 2018. Looks like I still need to wait sometime around December for the confirmation...

We have an Aeroplan award Feb 1 2018 in Y HKG-TPE and J TPE-YVR. Aeroplan insists that I must call in every once in a while to see if J is available HGK-TPE.

Any suggestions when availability may occur or how to put it on a waitlist?

There is no Waitlist for Awards.

However, there are currently C Award Seats available on both segments:

A few questions for the group on award wait list processing.

1) Does the wait list carry all the way to the day of flight to T0? How are you notified, and what happens if it clears and you are not at the airport?
2) Do you have to pay a redeposit fee to cancel the waitlist to get your miles back to your account?
3) What happens if wait list does not clear? Do the miles go back to your account automatically you doing anything, and without paying a fee?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Bumping this thread since I have some of the same questions as above. Some more:

4) Will each leg clear wait list on its own? Or all legs need to clear?
5) I have BR gold, but reservation also has my partner who has no status. Will that hurt my place in line?
