I am sure UA and AC go with their local time, not Taiwan time. As you said, it is the 17th in North America.

Given the efficiency of these huge companies, I would not be surprised if it takes a little longer. Probably there is not a person to "turn everything on" on 6/18 00:00. Of course, UA already turned on PQM for BR flights after 4/21.

Also, not all the airlines awards can be booked online, right?

UA had a partnership with BR even before BR joined star, so you can already eva with united miles. It's just the online capability to book awards will still be a while. I'm actually very impressed that Lm is up and running before everyone else.

There appears to be no agreement between BR and JJ.

Nice, and that's only doable over the phone?
I assume for 90K USDM miles for R.T.?

I don't think they bothered to negotiate agreements with JJ because they're leaving *A very soon. AV doesn't have one with JJ either.

The case with AV and JJ obviously is due to competitive reasons. If the press release about JJ is still accurate, they won't leave until 2014 which means they will leave after US and yet US and BR signed up.

I think the 6 segments (and 30,000 miles) were introduced sometime 3-5 years ago, it wasn't always there. I am not surprised that they don't count *A segments as it will be too easy to qualify base on domestic trips within U.S.

Update:

I'm able to put in my TK M&S number and it recognizes my gold status.

When you book it initially, don't enter anything regarding FFP (as it only gives you BR, UA, CA, and OZ). After booking, go into "manage booking" and enter your *A FFP number and it works like a champ.

ATM TK still hasn't published the mileage accrual rates based on the fare class even though M&S partner logo was added.

It has always been there in my memory. My membership number has a bunch of zeros and 3 non-zero digits (1300000xxx) I first made silver in February 1994! Back then, it was 25,000 miles (I think) and 6 segments. I had to do a TPE-SIN segment run for my silver - oh boy, this is when I caught the mileage run craze

I am on the road but will see if I can dig up my membership material (you know, we aviation nuts save everything) and verify when I get home.

That's right, and it was a rather painless process since the USDM system showed BR direct flight available when I initially asked for the agent to check availability for me. Unlike calling a few months ago to United's *A desk where some of the agents insisted that UA didn't partner up with BR.
