BR has always had the 6 segment requirement for silver. It is not a bad thing they make elite statuses a little harder to get.
I think the 6 segments (and 30,000 miles) were introduced sometime 3-5 years ago, it wasn't always there. I am not surprised that they don't count *A segments as it will be too easy to qualify base on domestic trips within U.S.
