Just got back from Budapest.
There is major construction along the Vaci Street corridor running between Deak Ferenc ter and Ferenciek tere metro stops. This is the main pedestrian thoroughfare and perhaps the most famous street in central Budapest. There are lots of high-end hotels located near Vaci Street.
There's no doubt this construction will be going on for months, and certainly thru December. This is not the area I'd want to stay in for the time being.

Here is a website that lists some of the 5th District hotels. If there's one your particularly interested in, I'd do some legwork to see how far from the construction zone they are.
