Things To Do In Bonn Germany

I don't recall too much of interest in Bonn itself, but that was quite a while ago when it was still West Germany's capital city. Lots of government buildings, embassies, and clean if staid buildings.
After a quick city tour, my hosts took me on a drive to nearby Kln and medieval Aachen. I otherwise had a very peaceful time reading in their Bad Godesberg living room, watching the barges plying the Rhein river.
The riverside train, boat, or car ride can be quite romantic when conditions are right.

Bonn is a nice (quiet old university) town.
See the Old Town and Beethovens birthplace.
It,s all near the main place (Marktplatz or Rathausplatz). See near Rhine Valley is nice too.

This house located in the old town was where Beethoven was born. He spent the first years of his life here until the age of 22, when he left Bonn forever to go to Vienna. The house was converted into a museum in 1890, and has some authentic documents on the composer's life and work (original scores, death mask), and musical instruments which belonged to him (a grand piano, stringed instruments). In the garden is the statue of the artist by N. Aranson.

Real "bnnsch" and "jemtlisch": the historical brewery-inn was first mentioned in 1385. The "Klsch" in particular slides down nicely.
